We're hiring a part-time Development Liaison. You may be early in your career or changing fields; what matters is that you want to build a development program from the ground up for a small organization serving long-term caregivers. You must be local to the area and familiar with the the potential sponsors and donors of Essex County MA. You desire to commit to a career focused on helping people in need and you love OUR CAUSE: to provide support and sanctuary for all on a long-term-care journey. You have completed a related degree program or certificate program (nonprofit management/organization development, fundraising, philanthropy, donor relations) and want to get started!
The Development Liaison role at Rest-Stop-Ranch in Topsfield, MA, is a part-time position focused on rapid financial growth and financial sustainability, following a 15-year strategic growth plan (A Top-10 Caregiver's Wish List). Key details for the position include:
- Compensation and Schedule: The role offers $20-25 per hour for up to 10 hours per week.
- Core Responsibilities: The Liaison will create and implement a development program (strategy, implementation, evaluation, and iterative modification) to increase the non-profit's capacity from a 75K operating budget to a $500K operating budget within the next 3 years. This includes tracking success metrics for fundraising, as well as identifying grant opportunities.
- Onsite Presence: Requirements include attending a weekly team meeting on Wednesdays (10am–12pm), and familiarizing oneself with onsite programming outdoors in the Accessible Gardens/Arboretum and indoors at the Caretaker's Cottage (programs currently are offered weekdays and on the second weekend of each month).
- Community Outreach: The position involves educating local organizations about programs through presentations and conducting onsite garden tours for philanthropists, health care managers, and new members.
- Ideal Candidate: The organization seeks individuals with experience in non-profit development, outreach, or corporate marketing/sales. Strong computer skills and an understanding of the long-term-care field, specifically the roles of caregivers and receivers, are essential. Your background also includes some volunteer experience.

While this part-time position does not include traditional monetary benefits beyond the hourly wage, it offers a unique opportunity to work in a peaceful, mission-driven sanctuary. You will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit development and management while supporting a vital community of caregivers. We provide a supportive team environment with regular professional development opportunities and the chance to make a tangible impact in the North of Boston area. Rest-Stop-Ranch organizational down-time includes 6 weeks unpaid vacation time (Holiday 3-weeks, and Summer 3-weeks). We encourage a work-life balance and taking time off as needed.
