Democracy at Work Institute (DAWI) seeks a detail-oriented, collaborative, and data-savvy contractor to support our Data & Research team. Our work centers on expanding democratic employee ownership of business as a strategy for racial, gender, and economic equity. The Data Support Contractor will work closely with the Data & Research Strategist and the Director of Research & Impact to strengthen data quality, support reporting, and maintain core data systems across the organization.

About the Role
The Data Support Contractor will work closely with the Data & Research Strategist and the Director of Research & Impact to strengthen data quality, support reporting, and maintain core data systems across the organization.
This role provides operational support to ensure that DAWI’s data infrastructure remains accurate, organized, and usable across programs. The contractor will assist with tasks such as data entry, cleaning and preparing datasets, supporting survey tools and data collection processes, maintaining internal data documentation, and helping prepare data outputs used in reporting and analysis.
The contractor will work directly with the Data & Research Strategist and the Director of Research & Impact, supporting priority data operations and system support tasks that strengthen DAWI’s ability to track impact and learn from program data.

Expectations of the Role
The Data Support Contractor will provide operational support to the Data & Research team across a range of data management, reporting, and data collection activities.
Because the Data & Research team supports multiple programs across the organization, specific tasks may vary depending on program needs and reporting timelines.
Areas of support may include the following:
Data Entry, Cleaning, and Quality Maintenance
Data Consolidation and Systems Support
Survey and Data Collection Support
Analysis, Visualization, & Reporting Support
Data Workflow and Systems Improvement
The contractor may also assist with other data-related tasks that support the work of the Data & Research team as needed.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone dependable, curious, and detail-oriented, with strong foundational data skills and the ability to manage multiple operational data tasks with consistency and accuracy.
This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys working with data systems, improving data organization, and helping teams translate raw data into usable information.

Estimated Time Commitment and Compensation
This is a one-year contract position with an expected commitment of approximately 10–15 hours per week. Compensation will be $40-50 per hour, depending on experience.
Work will be performed remotely. The contractor will participate in periodic meetings with the Data & Research team and coordinate regularly via Slack and other collaboration tools.
