Classroom Facilitator

Project Success is looking for a Classroom Facilitator to join our growing team in Mankato. Project Success is a youth development nonprofit organization that works with more than 17,000 6th–12th grade students and their families annually, creating meaningful opportunities for students through classroom Workshops, Arts Experiences, Expeditions, and Institute programming. Project Success has partnered with Mankato Area Public Schools for the past three years, and we are now growing our Mankato team to reach more students and deepen our programming in the community. Our team of Facilitators work directly with 6th–10th grade students in classrooms at our Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) partner schools. They lead Project Success workshops throughout the school year that help students explore who they are, think about their futures, and develop the skills and confidence to get there. Facilitators use established Project Success curriculum, prepare and adapt lessons for different groups of students, and work closely with classroom teachers and school staff to create engaging learning experiences. While classroom facilitation is the primary focus of this role, Facilitators also support out-of-class programming, including events, field trips, and other experiences that deepen relationships with the students they work with during the school day.

This role reports to the Mankato Site Director and is part of the Mankato Programs team at Project Success.

Our ideal candidate enjoys being in front of a classroom, building meaningful relationships with students, and creating engaging learning experiences. They have experience leading or facilitating learning experiences with young people and are comfortable adapting lessons or curriculum to meet the needs of different students. They are detail-oriented, organized, and excited to work collaboratively to meet student, teacher, and school needs. Facilitators undergo continuous training on culturally responsive and inclusive teaching methods, and the ideal candidate for this role must be willing to continuously learn and incorporate those learnings into their work.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Classroom Facilitation

• Facilitate engaging Project Success workshops for 6th-10th grade students in classrooms at MAPS partner schools throughout the school year
• Prepare and adapt lesson plans using Project Success curriculum to meet the needs of each school community and student population
• Create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment where students feel supported in exploring who they are, thinking about their futures, and developing the skills and confidence to get there
• Utilize a variety of educational pedagogies as tools to support student learning and engagement
• Build strong, collaborative relationships with classroom teachers and school staff to coordinate schedules, understand student and classroom needs, and create a positive presence in the schools
• Reflect on workshop experiences and student engagement to identify opportunities to improve lessons, activities, and facilitation
• Ensure Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility values are reflected in workshop content and facilitation
• Support the Facilitator team by stepping in to assist or sub in classrooms as needed

Programming & Student Engagement

• Facilitate curriculum and activities during out-of-class programming, as assigned
• Connect students with Project Success programming and experiences happening outside of the regular school day
• Staff events, field trips, and other student experiences, creating a welcoming and engaging environment for students and families
• Support the Mankato Programs team with student recruitment efforts in the schools
• Collaborate with the Mankato Programs team to ensure programs and events are well planned and run smoothly

Partners & Community

• Build and maintain strong relationships with students, teachers, school staff and program partners
• Stay informed about trends, issues, and opportunities impacting young people in the Mankato community and incorporate that information into the work
• Collaborate with the Mankato Programs team to respond to student, teacher, and school needs
• Continuously learn and apply culturally responsive and inclusive teaching and facilitation practices

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

• Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of similar experience (or a combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities)
• 2+ years of experience working directly with young people in education, youth development, facilitation, or a related field
• Experience leading lessons, workshops, activities, or other structured learning experiences with young people
• Experience developing, adapting, or delivering lesson plans or curriculum
• Strong facilitation and classroom management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to build meaningful relationships with students, teachers, and school staff
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
• Commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility and the ability to reflect those values in your daily work
• Willingness to continuously learn and incorporate culturally responsive and inclusive teaching practices
• Ability to work collaboratively and support team members as needed
• Proficient with Microsoft 365, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance
• Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, including movement up and down stairs and throughout office environment, events, and school environments
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times and 50 pounds on occasion

POSITION DETAILS

This position is a full-time, salaried exempt role offering the opportunity to bring your creativity and classroom skills to students across our Mankato partner schools. Work hours for this position are Monday - Friday daytime school hours, with occasional evening and weekend events with advance notice. This role is primarily in person at our Mankato partner schools, with some ability to do lesson-planning and meetings remotely.

The compensation package includes the following:

• $50,000 - $55,000 starting annual salary
