A Kennel Attendant’s job with the Amanda Foundation varies with the needs of the company, but in general, the employee is required to provide food and water, perform minimal grooming, and provide exercise for our dogs and cats. The kennel staff ensure the needs of the animals are met and maintains the cleanliness of the animals’ living spaces.
Duties: Kennel Attendants are accountable for keeping the animals fed and restocking supplies, removing litter and leftover food, collecting and getting rid of fecal matter, disinfecting the area and replacing the cleared materials. Other tasks may include transporting the animals to a different area/location; and carrying out specialized bathing, grooming, and exercise routines. Other duties include observing animals and checking for signs of disease, illness, or discontent. Humane and gentle handling of all the animals is non-negotiable.
Employee must be diligent, committed, punctual, able to work independently, have reliable transportation, and most importantly, love animals! The ability to work with and walk dogs from 4lbs-150lbs in safe manner throughout the kennel is an absolute necessity. Proper and safe handling of cats is also a requirement. Employee must be able to lift a 50-pound bag of dog food/cat litter, and be aware that this is an extremely physically demanding position.
Working weekends and holidays is a requirement.
