    ABOUT MVP

Movement Voter Project is a progressive donor clearinghouse that directs funding to organizations working to shift culture, win power, and shape policy.

We support hundreds of groups organizing the broad-based, multiracial coalition we need to win power and progress for decades to come: working people, young people, and voters across urban, rural, immigrant, and LGBTQ+ communities. Learn more: https://movement.vote.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

As National Director of Partnerships, you will collaborate across multiple departments to lead MVP’s strategy to build and strengthen relationships with national, multi-state, and other partners across organizing, policy, philanthropy, and movement spaces.

The Director will manage a portfolio of high-impact partnerships with national organizations, coordinate cross-team collaboration on hundreds of organizational relationships, and shape national grantmaking and field strategy. Working closely with the Executive Director and senior leaders across programs and development, the Director will translate national relationships into concrete value for MVP and its broader network of partners — including grassroots organizations, state-based coalitions, funder collaboratives, and the infrastructure that supports long-term electoral and policy power. This is a high-impact, strategic, senior-level role for someone who excels at connecting people and ideas, thrives in complexity, and brings a deep commitment to equity and movement building.

In this role, your work will lead to:

    • Increased funding, capacity, and visibility for MVP and our grantee partners.
    • A cohesive, clearly articulated national grantmaking strategy that reflects MVP’s values, priorities, and evolving analysis.
    • Stronger internal coordination and systems around partner management engagement.
    • Growing MVP’s work as a trusted connector, thought partner, and field leader.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.

    Manage and Lead National Partnerships

    • Serve as the lead relationship manager for a portfolio of high-impact national, multi-state, and other partners — including donor collaboratives, national advocacy networks, civic engagement coalitions, policy and electoral strategy groups, and other organizations aligned with MVP’s mission.
    • Proactively identify opportunities that advance MVP’s programmatic, political, and fundraising goals; define shared priorities and MVP’s role in joint efforts.
    • Facilitate the National Partnerships Working Group, coordinating across MVP team members who manage hundreds of relationships collectively by setting clear processes, tracking progress, and ensuring consistency in partner engagement and documentation.
    • Surface patterns, insights, and gaps from MVP’s national partnerships and translate them into cross-functional strategies, collaborative initiatives, and potential interventions to support state-based partners and the broader movement ecosystem.

    Support National Grantmaking Strategy

    • Advise the Executive Director on designing and evolving MVP’s national grantmaking portfolio, ensuring alignment with broader organizational strategies.
    • Conduct landscape scans and organizational vetting to inform grantmaking and donor strategies.
    • Write and present grant recommendations and partner narratives for internal and external audiences.
    • Serve as a key point of contact for national groups seeking funding or collaboration — triaging inquiries, advancing strategic partnerships, and coordinating with internal teams.
    • Act as the central point of contact for end-of-year evaluation reports and other documentation.

    Build and Maintain Systems

    • Build and maintain cross-team infrastructure for tracking national partnerships — overhauling our current tracking system and coordinating across MVP’s existing systems (Airtable for program relationships and Salesforce for donor engagement) to ensure accuracy, accountability, and ease of access for all relevant teams.
    • Lead internal coordination around MVP’s participation in key conferences, partner briefings, and movement convenings — ensuring the right staff are involved, strategic connections are made, and insights are captured and shared to inform MVP’s internal strategy, donor engagement, and external positioning.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrated senior-level leadership in some combination of nonprofit, political, philanthropic, and movement spaces, with a strong track record of driving strategy, managing complexity, and building alignment across diverse stakeholders.
    • Deep understanding of national and state-based progressive landscape, with experience navigating or partnering across electoral, policy, and movement-building spaces.
    • Proven success in managing high-impact partnerships and coalitions, and advancing shared goals across teams or institutions.
    • Excellent relationship management skills and experience with fundraising strategy, donor engagement, or collaborative resource mobilization.
    • Strong strategic thinking and systems-building abilities.
    • Comfort with ambiguity, adaptation, and organizational change.
    • Deep commitment to racial and social justice, grassroots movements, and MVP’s mission.

    OTHER DETAILS

    Physical and Environmental Requirements

    • Full-time, remote, exempt position

    Travel required

    • Occasional travel for partner visits, conferences and team gatherings

    Accommodations

    • Reasonable accommodations may be made for people with disabilities to perform key functions.

    Reporting Relationships

This position does not currently have direct reports, though that may evolve over time. The National Director of Partnerships will report to the Executive Director and collaborate closely with senior leaders across the organization. This includes partnering with the Chief Development Officer to align on fundraising partnerships, donor strategy, and funder reporting; working with the Program Team to ensure national partnerships are strategically connected to state-based work and deliver clear value to MVP’s grantees; and coordinating with the Executive Director’s Deputies to align on priorities and manage external engagement.

    SALARY & BENEFITS

Salary Range: $140,000–$180,000 annually, plus a generous benefits package. This role may be hired at either a Level 5 ($140–$160K) or Level 6 ($160–$180K) based on our compensation rubric, depending on experience and fit.
