Do you believe that the best way to empower LGBTQAI+ youth is by equipping the adults who guide and support them?

Live Out Loud is seeking an Educational Program Manager to lead our professional development efforts for educators, principals, teachers, and parents. Entering our 25th Anniversary Year, we are continuing to expand our programs that train adults to create safe, affirming, and inclusive environments for LGBTQAI+ students. In this role, you will design and deliver workshops, curricula, and resources that help adults become stronger allies and advocates—ensuring that LGBTQAI+ youth have the supportive schools and families they need to thrive.

While professional development is the heart of this position, the Educational Program Manager will also oversee a small team of facilitators and collaborate with schools, families, and board members to strengthen programming that directly engages students. Together, these efforts build a holistic ecosystem of support that empowers LGBTQAI+ youth to discover their voices and step into leadership.

    PLEASE NOTE:

WORKSHOPS WILL TAKE PLACE IN PERSON AT SCHOOLS IN THE FIVE BOROUGHS OF MANHATTAN.

    Key Responsibilities

      • Design, implement, and lead professional development programs for educators, principals, teachers, and parents to create safe, affirming, and inclusive environments for LGBTQAI+ youth.
      • Develop training curricula, workshops, and resources that equip adults with strategies to support and advocate for LGBTQAI+ students.
      • Lead strong marketing, promotion, and outreach efforts to schools and districts to secure program opportunities and maximize participation throughout the school year.
      • Build and maintain relationships with school districts, principals, and community partners to expand participation in professional development initiatives.
      • Evaluate the impact of trainings through participant feedback, surveys, and follow-up reporting to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement.
      • Oversee and support a team of one full-time and one part-time Program Facilitator to ensure consistent delivery of workshops and school-based programs.
      • Collaborate with the Program Committee of the Board of Directors, providing updates and insights to strengthen program strategy and alignment with organizational goals.
      • Partner with families, educators, and community organizations to ensure youth-centered programming is supported by a strong ecosystem of adult allies.
      • Manage program documentation including attendance tracking, impact reporting, participant surveys, and partner follow-ups, while also capturing powerful stories and testimonials—through written reflections and short videos—that highlight program impact. Collaborate with the Development & Communications team to share this content across social media and participate in the creation of Live Out Loud’s monthly newsletter.
      • Support the design and implementation of Live Out Loud’s signature initiatives, including The School Program, Behind-the-Scenes Program, Summer Student Leadership Program, and community events.

Teacher Town Halls (collaboration with NYC Department of Education)

      • Design, create and facilitate three / 60–90-minute town hall for GSA Advisors.
      • Manage post-event documentation—including attendance tracking, program reporting, participant surveys, and partner follow-ups—while serving as liaison with NYC DOE partners to plan and prepare GSA Advisor Town Halls.

    Behind the Scenes

      • Collaborate with the Executive Director to deliver six Behind the Scenes events annually.
      • Responsibilities include partnering with LGBTQ+ ERGs to plan and prepare events, developing materials (event decks, surveys), managing registration, and overseeing event-day logistics.
      • Handle follow-up tasks such as distributing and collecting surveys and release forms, tracking attendance, compiling reports, and maintaining strong partner communication.

    Administrative / Team Management

      • Oversee program operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals, including data collection and impact analysis.
      • Lead program evaluation, tracking, and reporting to measure outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
      • Partner with the Executive Director on grants and contracts, supporting applications, compliance, reporting, and relationships with NYC DOE and DYCD.

    Qualifications & Experience

      • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in education preferred. 5–7 years of experience in education, youth development, or related fields.
      • Program & Leadership Skills: Proven success in professional development facilitation, curriculum design and revision, and new program development with an innovative mindset. Strong leadership, program management, and community organizing experience.
      • Operational Strength: Demonstrated ability to manage systems, operations, and logistics to ensure smooth program delivery, coordination across events and partnerships, and staff support.
      • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, effectively prioritizing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
      • Marketing & Outreach: Experience with marketing, promotion, and outreach to schools, educators, and community partners to maximize program participation.
      • Facilitation & Training: Skilled in delivering engaging workshops and professional development sessions for educators, principals, teachers, and parents.
      • Mission Alignment: Knowledge of and passion for LGBTQAI+ issues and a strong commitment to creating safe, affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ youth.
