    Descripción

    Position Overview The Janney Enrichment Program Director leads the vision, operations, and team for our after-school enrichment program. The program provides fun, diverse, affordable, and accessible classes for children from Pre-K4 through 5th grade. This full-time, year-round role also oversees Janney+ Summer Programs and collaborates closely with the senior team to drive a shared organizational vision.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Strategy & Planning

    • Develop Strategic Vision: Create and execute a vision for engaging, high-quality, and accessible PK4–5th grade enrichment and summer programs based on student interests and family feedback.
    • Manage Partnerships: Recruit top-tier vendors, instructors, and community partners, negotiating contracts and pricing to ensure program quality and financial sustainability.
    • Financial Management: Develop and monitor the program budget, tracking performance to ensure enrollment and financial goals are met.
    • Collaborate on Strategy: Work closely with the Executive Director, Associate Executive Director, Board, and other program directors to align enrichment offerings with the broader Janney+ mission.

    Operations

    • Oversee Daily Logistics: Manage the enrichment registration process, online enrollment systems, class schedules, classroom assignments, and facility usage.
    • Supervise Staff & Vendors: Evaluate and manage enrichment staff and vendors to guarantee a consistent, engaging, and high-quality experience for students.
    • Maintain Administration: Keep accurate operational records, including budgets, contracts, enrollment data, staff schedules, and payroll (in partnership with HR).
    • Manage Student Success: Partner with families and school staff to support varying student needs and clearly communicate expectations for student behavior.
    • Ensure Safety: Implement program policies, risk-management practices, and emergency procedures to guarantee the safety and well-being of all participants.
    • Handle Procurement: Source and manage necessary program materials, supplies, and equipment.

    • Foster Inclusivity: Create a positive, welcoming, and collaborative environment for students, families, staff, and vendors.
    • Build Relationships: Cultivate strong ties with families and the community through proactive communication, empathetic problem-solving, and exceptional customer service.
    • Lead Professional Development: Direct staff onboarding, meetings, and training to promote a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
    • Act as Ambassador: Model Janney+ values and represent the organization to community stakeholders and volunteers to strengthen our local impact and visibility.

    Qualifications

    • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Education (or a related field) and at least 5 years of experience in school-based / nonprofit leadership, youth development work, and/or an enrichment-related area (e.g., visual and performing arts, STEAM, athletics, wellness, civics, entrepreneurship, culinary and farming, etc.).
    • Child Development Expertise: Strong knowledge of child growth, developmental behavior characteristics, and effective student behavior management strategies.
    • Technical Proficiency: Ability to quickly learn and utilize technology/software required for program operations (e.g., Microsoft Office, Paychex/Flex, Campsite).
    • Operational & Financial Acumen: Proven ability to manage budgets, time, supplies, and facilities efficiently while maintaining accurate records.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with a track record of building positive working relationships with students, parents, staff, and administrators.
    • Health & Safety: Ability to perform routine first aid, support emergency procedures, and provide for the psychological and physical safety of children.
    • Clearances: Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job and pass the required DCPS clearance process.
