    About Us

    Life House Atlanta is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to building Georgia’s first pediatric care home for children with complex medical conditions.

    Its primary mission is to enhance the quality of life for children with life-limiting illnesses by expanding access to skilled palliative care for these children and restorative respite services for their families, while pursuing a dedicated home to provide this care in a specialized, year-round setting.

    Life House Atlanta aims to develop a fully staffed pediatric care home serving families across Georgia.We are seeking an experienced, visionary, and compassionate Executive Director to lead our organization into its next chapter of growth and impact.

    This is a rare opportunity to lead the development of a transformative nonprofit that will fill a critical gap in the healthcare and support system for families with medically complex children.

    Position Summary

    The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer and reports directly to the Board of Directors.

    The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, donors, healthcare partners, and community.Most importantly, the ED will lead the organization’s fundraising and development efforts to build Georgia’s first pediatric care home.

    This role is ideal for a mission-driven leader with strong fundraising experience who is passionate about supporting families with medically complex children.

    The Executive Director will guide the organization through its next phase of development, including building a sustainable donor base, cultivating major gifts, and preparing for a future capital campaign to fund the development and construction of our home.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fundraising & Development Leadership (Primary Responsibility)

    The Executive Director will serve as the organization’s chief fundraising officer, responsible for developing and executing strategies to secure the philanthropic support required to bring the Life House vision to life.

    Responsibilities include:

      • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support operational growth and future capital campaign goals
      • Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, foundations, corporations, and community leaders
      • Identify and engage potential lead donors and transformational gifts
      • Build and manage a growing pipeline of individual, foundation, and corporate supporters
      • Develop a strong partnership with the Board of Directors to strengthen board engagement in fundraising efforts
      • Oversee donor stewardship, recognition, and communication strategies
      • Represent Life House Atlanta in the philanthropic community to build awareness and support for the mission

    Organizational Leadership

      • Serve as the primary spokesperson and passionate ambassador for Life House Atlanta
      • Implement the organization’s strategic plan through effective communication skills with the Board of Directors
      • Build and strengthen relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, and referral partners
      • Guide the development of the organizational infrastructure required to support future program operations
      • Foster a mission-driven, compassionate organizational culture

    Strategic Growth & Program Development

      • Lead the development of a multi-year plan to bring Life House Atlanta to reality
      • Research and incorporate best practices from existing pediatric and palliative care homes
      • Support the development of the future care model and operational framework for Life House Atlanta
      • Develop strategic partnerships with hospitals, healthcare providers, and social service organizations

    Financial Stewardship

      • Work closely with the Board and Finance Committee to develop and manage the annual operating budget
      • Ensure sound financial management and transparency
      • Oversee grant compliance, reporting, and donor accountability
      • Support development of financial systems and infrastructure appropriate for organizational growth

    Board Relations & Governance

      • Partner closely with the Board of Directors to advance the mission and strategic priorities of the organization
      • Prepare materials and reports for board meetings
      • Support board development and engagement in fundraising and advocacy
      • Ensure compliance with all nonprofit governance and regulatory requirements

    Qualifications

    Required Experience

      • Bachelor’s degree
      • Minimum 5 years of nonprofit leadership or senior management experience
      • Demonstrated success in major gift fundraising and donor relationship management
      • Experience leading or participating in significant fundraising campaigns
      • Strong public speaking, communication, and relationship-building skills
      • Experience working with nonprofit boards and volunteers

    Preferred Experience

      • Experience in healthcare, pediatric care, hospice, or related nonprofit sectors
      • Experience building or leading capital campaigns
      • Experience in grant writing, including securing funding from the foundations, corporations and public sources to support Life House Atlanta growth.
      • Familiarity with the Atlanta philanthropic and healthcare communities3
      • Experience working with organizations supporting families with special needs or medically complex children

    Compensation
