    Job Summary

    We are seeking a mission-driven Assistant Coordinator to join our Family Child Care team! You will be responsible for assisting the Program Coordinator in the management of Rainbow's Family Child Care (FCC) system, in accordance with the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) contract mandates and licensing requirements. In this role, you will provide technical assistance, consultation, coaching, and home visits to a maximum of 20 affiliated FCC Educators.

    Duties:

    • Conduct home visits to FCC Educators: a minimum of twice monthly, each visit must last at least 30 minutes and should be organized around a planned set of goals that are guided by relevant EEC policies, individualized to meet FCC Educator needs, and support their goals for improvement and professional advancement.
    • Home visits should include modeling, observation of educator practice, demonstration of practices, and time for discussion and reflection, understanding and implementing new practices introduced through training, coursework, or other professional learning.
    • Provide support for planning FCC Educators' professional advancement and growth, including coordination and/or referral to desired professional development and higher education opportunities.
    • Provide support in sourcing a high-quality learning environment, including age-appropriate furniture, identifying sufficient space to encourage play, creating clearly defined play areas, and making materials accessible.
    • Provide support in sourcing curriculum resources for quality educational experiences, including sufficient developmentally appropriate learning materials and books in languages spoken by children in care, support for implementation of child screening and assessment systems, and guidance and support for high quality teaching practice and intentional approaches to planning learning experiences for children and youth.
    • Ensure that all children receive child care services that meet their individual needs and include additional onsite supports for all children, including, but not limited to, children with Individualized Education Plans, Dual-Language learners, and children with behavioral, health or mental health needs.
    • Provide technical assistance, as needed, on use of technology to access required EEC systems, on-line professional development opportunities, record keeping, and required administrative information.
    • Assist the FCC Coordinator in the ongoing evaluation processes needed to assess the developmental level of the children enrolled, including providing Ages and Stages developmental evaluations, and collecting and reviewing screenings and evaluations per EEC regulations.
    • Document onsite visits, including dates, times, summary of activities, goals for the visit, next steps, and signature of those supervising and participating, including any tools and templates as required by EEC.
    • Maintain up-to-date Current Enrollment information for Educators to post confidentially in their program.
    • Assist the FCC Coordinator with scheduling substitute care for children.
    • Collect documents from Educators in a timely manner: invoices, program closure forms, etc.
    • Complete written evacuation plans to be posted for each FCC Educator, as needed.
    • Review Educator invoices for accuracy, after FCC Coordinator has prepared them and before submitting to Accounting for payment.
    • Assist the FCC Coordinator in developing the annual budget and maintaining fiscal responsibility for the program budget during the year, including submission of program supplies requests.
    • Attend monthly FCC program meetings. Attend and assist the FCC Coordinator in coordinating and implementing Professional Development Days.
    • Perform administrative duties for the FCC program in the absence of the FCC Coordinator.
    • Participate in meetings with the Executive Director, FCC Coordinator, FCC Educators, other Program Coordinators, and Administrative staff, as required.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • A minimum of Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, a lead teacher certification and/or CDA certificate and 2 years of experience in the field of family child care, social services, or related field
    • Training in principles of adult learning, best practices in early childhood and out-of-school time and working with mixed-age groups, EEC child care licensing regulations and policies, and approaches to professional learning including, but not limited to, technical assistance (i.e., coaching, mentoring, consultation).
    • Previous experience working in Family Child Care or supporting FCC Educators
    • Knowledge of EEC/DCF regulations
    • Knowledge of CDA preferred
    • Knowledge in developmentally appropriate skills for birth - 5 years of age
    • Knowledge of working with children with challenging behaviors
    • Knowledge of computers and basic software programs used at Rainbow (e.g., Microsoft Office programs, ProCare or similar childcare management software)
    • Experience in establishing and maintaining positive, trusting, supportive relationships
    • Ability to work independently
    • Ability to multitask successfully
    • Strong organizational and communication skills

    Other Requirements:

    • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
    • Must successfully complete a fingerprint-based background record check (CORI/SORI)
    • Must maintain CPR and First Aid certificates
    • Must be bilingual - English and Spanish

    Physical Requirements:

    • Mandatory physical every 2 years
    • Ability to navigate stairways and lift a minimum of 25 pounds
    • Physical ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position (with or without accommodation)
