    What We Seek:

    Join a dynamic team of development professionals working to advance the mission of the University of New Mexico. The UNM Foundation seeks nominations and applications for the position of Director of Development for the UNM College of Nursing.

    As the leader of Nursing Education in the State of New Mexico, UNM’s College of Nursing offers an unmatched depth and breadth of education, research, service, and leadership within the field of Nursing.

    The successful applicant will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive development program in coordination with the leadership of the UNM College of Nursing, the UNM Foundation staff, and colleagues. The successful applicant will work closely with the Dean of the College, VP for HSC Development, SVP of Development, staff, volunteers, and friends to identify prospects, develop strategies leading to solicitation, and steward major donors.

    The primary focus of the position is to identify, cultivate and solicit major and planned gifts benefiting the College of Nursing.

    About the College of Nursing

    In the early 1950s, New Mexico nurses voiced their concerns about an inadequate supply of registered nurses (RNs) to meet the health care needs of the state’s growing population. By the spring of 1955, the UNM College of Nursing was founded by Dr. Marion Fleck and Mary Jane Carter, with the enthusiastic support of UNM President Tom Popejoy.

    Today, the UNM College of Nursing has over 1300 students in BSN, DNP, and PhD programs. We are the #1 BSN Program in New Mexico and rank in the top 17% in the nation. Our DNP Nurse-Midwifery program ranks #7 in the Nation. We give over $1.2M in scholarships each year and 83% of our students receive some form of financial aid. 71% of our students identify and coming from underrepresented groups.

    What We Require:

    • Experience in higher education or other non-profit organization
    • Proven ability to close large private gifts.

    The minimum education and experience required:

    • Baccalaureate degree
    • At least 3 years of successful fundraising and development experience, preferably in higher education.

    Compensation Salary Range:

    The expected salary for this position is $80,000 - $90,000. This range is an estimate, and the final salary will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, consideration of any approved geographic salary differential, and alignment with internal equity guidelines to ensure consistency across similar roles.
