    Cristo Rey/Chicago Education Facilitator

    Program: Human Rights Education/STTP

    Part-Time, Non-Exempt

    Time Period: 7 month contract (potential for contract renewal/extension)

    Location: Remote - Chicago, IL

    Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights is seeking a Human Rights Education (HRE) Chicago Facilitator/Education Contractor to further the organization’s work in human rights education in partnership with the Cristo Rey and Chicago Public Schools. This position within Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights provides for a unique opportunity to facilitate the design, implementation and evaluation of a whole-school model for human rights education in partnership with the Cristo Rey network of schools. This requires building trust and credibility with the full range of stakeholders including educators, students, community partners and funders.

    Responsibilities:

    Program Development:

    • Facilitate whole school planning (involving school leaders, curriculum leaders, educators, parents and community members, and students) with the Cristo Rey school network for the comprehensive delivery of human rights education through curricular integration, project-based learning, and out-of-school time activities.
    • Support program implementation to include: content development, training and professional development work, cultivation of educator relationships, and project coordination.
    • Serve as a human rights education, training, and professional development resource and point of contact for school leaders, teachers and partners in Chicago.
    • Facilitate the development of Speak Truth to Power and Human Rights Education curriculum and instruction including presentations, site specific agendas, handouts, exercises, other resource materials, and community partners to extend authentic learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
    • Collaborate with RFKHR colleagues in ideating and preparing instructional content that builds on RFKRH’s extensive network of STTP defenders.
    • Advance the development and creation of school and departmental work plans, and other tools for monitoring and evaluation.

    External Engagement:

    • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with funders, key stakeholders and Lead HRE Educators.
    • Manage professional development events in Chicago and in collaboration with implementing partners including: evaluation of program needs, assisting trainers, and conducting after-event follow-up.
    • Monitor and integrate developments, best practices, and opportunities in the field.
    • Contribute to communications collateral such as team updates, briefing reports, talking points, impact stories, etc.
    • Conduct day-to-day administrative tasks associated with the program in coordination with the school schedule, educator assignments, and community engagement, as well as, included but not limited to creating and managing the program budget,
    • Identify and execute ways to achieve shared impact across other RFKHR programs, to mobilize RFKHR stakeholders in support of the work, and to increase the visibility of RFKHR and our work with the Cristo Rey community, across Chicago-are educational institutions, and with the general public,
    • Do your part in keeping our operations running smoothly - tracking your hours and submitting invoices in a timely manner.

    A successful candidate must have the following skills and experiences:

    • At least 5 years’ of working experience in an educational setting (school, non-profit, community organization with a focus on youth and/or education) with a minimum of two consecutive years in one role;
    • Currently located in and ability to work out of Chicago, IL;
    • Prior experience with human rights and human rights education;
    • Demonstrated experience with program development, implementation and assessment;
    • Experience working with students and teachers from K-12 and university/college levels;
    • A demonstrated passion for RFKHR’s mission and demonstrated commitment to community-centered advocacy;
    • Experience facilitating training sessions and professional development, both pre- and in -service experience is a plus;
    • Excellent facilitation and public speaking skills and experiences;
    • Successful experience with Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) design, implementation, and reporting;
    • Ability to work on CRM (Customer Relationship Management) platforms such as Salesforce or similar;
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and presentation software such as Powerpoint, Prezi Blackboard Collaborate, Zoom or similar;
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
    • Exceptional time management, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at once;
    • Innovative thinking, willingness to voice your opinions, and a strong work ethic are essential;
    • Strong sense of teamwork that builds positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, and a willingness to help others;
    • Believes in inclusivity when working with colleagues with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

    Availability and Compensation:

    • The initial period of work will be seven (7) months beginning Fall 2025 and ending Spring 2026; Option to extend dependent on deliverables;
    • Available 15-25 hours per week;
    • Part-time, starting hourly rate of $35/hour;
    • This position is eligible for overtime pay.
