    Descripción

    The Upper Valley Haven provides temporary shelter, supportive housing, food, and

    problem solving to those in need. At the Haven, we invest in our team by providing

    We are seeking compassionate and motivated staff members to join our team. In this

    role, you will be responsible for providing direct support to guests, ensuring a safe and

    clean environment, and assisting with the daily operations of the Resource Center.

    Job Summary

    The Resource Center Staff cultivates positive, supportive relationships with guests while

    promoting a strong sense of community. Using person-centered and trauma-informed

    approaches, this role supports daily operations of the Resource Center and helps

    maintain a welcoming, respectful, and safe environment grounded in standards of well

    being, communication, and safety. Staff work closely with guests to empower their

    strengths, honor individual experiences, and support the pursuit of self-defined goals.

    This position requires professionalism and the ability to engage effectively with

    individuals, children, and families while providing support that balances compassion

    with accountability.

    The Haven will employ three full-time (32 hours) staff on weekdays and two part-time (16 hours) staff on weekends. These are first-shift positions.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Welcome guests in a respectful, trauma-informed and culturally responsive manner and orient them to Resource Center expectations and policies
    • Maintain safe, clean, and welcoming spaces
    • Assist with laundry, custodial tasks, daily cleaning lists, and mealtime management
    • Conduct intakes and basic needs assessments
    • Complete written shift documentation in a timely and accurate manner
    • Communicate collaboratively and professionally with other team members who serve guests, including service coordinators, other Resource Center associates, and managers
    • Assist with coordination of on-site services, workshops, or partner visits
    • Respond appropriately to crises, conflict, medical needs, and behavioral challenges
    • Participate in team meetings and weekly supervision
    • Communicate important information to staff and supervisors including incident reports and contact emergency services when needed
    • Support guests with completing applications, forms, and accessing online services, community resource connections, and supporting basic needs

    Compensation and Benefits

    • $22/hour

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Strong written and verbal communication
    • Reliability and punctuality
    • Commitment to work non-traditional hours including holidays
    • Ability to build rapport with diverse individuals
    • Ability to maintain strong professional boundaries and to remain calm in face of crisis situations
    • Understand the impact of being unsheltered, instability, mental health, and substance misuse
    • Flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork
    • Ability to work calmly in stressful or crisis situations
    • Ability to bend, lift up to 30 lbs., walk on varying terrain, and perform active duties throughout shifts

    Experience & Education

    • Associate or bachelor's degree in human services or similar field preferred
    • Previous experience working in a shelter or social services setting preferred
    • Valid driver’s license
    • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification (will train if needed)
