Position: Grants and Development Manager
Position Type: Full Time
Time Commitment: 35 hours/week includes some nights and weekend hours
Reports to: Morgan Spears, Co-CEO
Position Summary: Working Credit is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Grants Manager to coordinate and manage the organization's growing portfolio of foundation, corporate, and government grants and individual giving. This position oversees the operational aspects of the grants process - from prospect research and proposal coordination through reporting, compliance, and grants administration. Working collaboratively with program, finance, and executive leadership. The Grants Manager ensures grant proposals and reports are developed, reviewed, and submitted on time, maintains accurate grant records and tracking systems, and supports the organization in securing and stewarding grant funding that advances Working Credit's mission of improving financial health through credit building.
Major Responsibilities:
Grant Development & Proposal Management
- Coordinate the development and submission of grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other funding requests.
- Manage proposal timelines, internal reviews, approvals, and submission requirements to ensure deadlines are met.
- Coordinate the collection of narrative, program, financial, and evaluation information from internal stakeholders.
- Assemble proposal packages, including narratives, budgets, attachments, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with drafting and editing proposal narratives under the direction of executive leadership.
- Maintain the organization's grants calendar and proposal pipeline.
Grant Management, Reporting, and Compliance
- Manage the full lifecycle of awarded grants from award through closeout.
- Coordinate with program and finance staff to monitor grant deliverables, budgets, and reporting requirements, and draft and submit timely interim and final grant reports.
- Coordinate the preparation and timely submission of interim and final grant reports by gathering required information and assisting with drafting and editing reports.
- Work with finance to track grant expenditures and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
- Maintain complete grant files, award documentation, agreements, and correspondence.
Grant Prospecting
- Research, identify, and qualify new grant funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
- Develop funder profiles summarizing funding priorities, deadlines, giving history, and alignment with Working Credit's mission.
- Monitor funding trends and share opportunities with executive leadership.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate grant and funder records in Salesforce and other organizational systems.
- Track proposal outcomes, funding history, and key development metrics.
- Assist with compiling fundraising reports for leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Work closely with finance and program teams to collect data necessary for proposals and reports.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with program and community engagement staff to understand program design, implementation, outcomes, and evaluation.
- Collaborate with finance staff to develop grant budgets and financial reports.
- Support Co-CEOs with preparation for funder meetings by developing briefing materials and proposal summaries.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of grant writing templates, systems, and internal processes.
Other Duties
- Participate in department planning and team meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the organization's fundraising goals.
- Travel to attend in-person funder meetings, events, and retreats. (~20% travel)
Qualifications and Experience
- Commitment to WC’s mission.
- A strong track record of achieving tangible fundraising outcomes in the financial inclusion, racial justice, or a related field, including experience cultivating and maintaining funders.
- 3-5 years of development and/or philanthropy experience in a nonprofit, educational, or public service environment.
- Experience responding effectively to shifting and evolving fundraising priorities.
- Skilled communicator and relationship-focused leader
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Ability to listen to others and communicate honestly, responsibly and professionally; verbally, written, and electronically
- Technologically savvy and knowledgeable including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce.
Compensation:
Working Credit offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience and skills. Working Credit also offers competitive benefits, including 100% health insurance for employees and 75% for families, vision, dental, a 403(b) with a 4% match, short- and long-term disability, and life insurance.
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
Location of Employment: This is a remote position. Due to employment and payroll requirements, applicants must reside and work in one of the 50 United States. We are unable to hire individuals whose primary residence is in a U.S. territory.
