    About CNM:

    The Southern California Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) is dedicated to helping Southern California’s social impact nonprofit sector thrive. CNM offers programs, education, and training solutions to nonprofit leaders whose organizations serve low-to-middle income communities. These communities face struggles linked to poverty, crime, poor educational facilities, lack of health care, language barriers, and other quality of life challenges. CNM helps these organizations develop and build capacity by ensuring that these nonprofit leaders have the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to pursue their missions.

    We do this by working with leaders on program evaluation, strategic planning, organizational development, community impact assessments, and effective governance. CNM has been Southern California’s social impact nonprofit sector's most trusted partner when it comes to elevating its leaders, solving problems, and responding to change. In 2022, CNM served more than 2,000 nonprofit organizations and over 5,000 nonprofit staff through a variety of initiatives, projects, trainings, and seminars. Most recently, CNM convened nearly 500 nonprofit leaders from across the region at our annual conference.

    Our ability to advance capacity building is done through our research, data tracking and analysis, sector action and engagement, advocacy, and innovation. CNM is comprised of strong leaders who help shape how nonprofit leaders approach challenges and opportunities so these organizations can more effectively pursue their missions and impact their communities.

    About the Role:

    We are looking for a Project Manager, Special Initiatives to help CNM respond quickly and thoughtfully to opportunities and urgent issues facing the nonprofit sector. This is a cross-functional role focused on managing time-sensitive initiatives, building sector partnerships, facilitating community engagement efforts, and contributing to data-informed decision-making.

    Key Responsibilities Include:

    Project Management and Administration

    • Project management, strategy development, and managing consultants/cross-departmental project working teams to achieve common goals.
    • Lead grants management duties, including but not limited to: Grant reports; Evaluation Reports (qualitative and quantitative); and Expenditure Reports
    • Co-develop project planning and implementation.
    • Prioritize work effectively and adjust to multiple demands with consistent attention to timelines.
    • Prepare and give presentations, collaborate, and comfortably interact with diverse audiences including nonprofits, philanthropy, government, and community groups
    • Understand and proactively seek opportunities for internal integration of work across functions and departments to make connections and leverage the strengths and efforts of CNM to maximize its impact.

    Manage Data, Analysis, and Impact Measurement

    • Lead collaboration with Research and Social Impact team for data creation and review process.
    • Gather, organize, analyze, and visualize quantitative or qualitative data as needed to inform the project efforts and communicate progress.
    • Conduct research necessary to inform special initiatives team activities which includes but are not limited to researching educational opportunities for the nonprofit sector; and providing a data-informed approach to the design and administration of projects.
    • Track, read, and analyze research and data related to issues and events an initiative may be responding to and seeking to address.
    • Compile and share research from projects to share with project partners and other stakeholders.
    • Monitor progress for completion of key duties, notably: Evaluation Reports.

    Support Convenings and Community Engagement

    • In collaboration with the senior director and other CNM departments, support convenings and activities related to CNM’s overarching mission and vision. This includes but is not limited to:
      • Co-creating the design of project strategies that are data-informed and research based
      • Collaborating with external groups
      • Assessing and reporting impact of engagement
    • Meeting/convening planning and execution which will include but not be limited to: event planning/logistics; developing agenda and coordinating speakers; meeting facilitation

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 3 years of experience in the nonprofit, philanthropic, or government sector
    • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public policy, or related field
    • Strong communication and presentation skills
    • Experience managing timelines and cross-functional collaboration
    • Familiarity with LA’s nonprofit landscape and key issues
    • Comfort working with both qualitative and quantitative data
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
