Summary
The Senior Director, Strategic Alliances develops and leads OCRA’s national pharmaceutical and biotechnology partnership strategy, driving sustainable revenue growth and advancing mission-critical programmatic initiatives. This role is responsible for cultivating, securing, and stewarding high-value corporate partnerships that support OCRA’s research, patient support, advocacy, education, and disease awareness efforts.
Serving as the organization’s lead architect for industry engagement, the Senior Director develops and executes a comprehensive industry strategy that aligns corporate objectives with OCRA’s mission and scientific integrity. The role manages a portfolio of national pharmaceutical and biotech partners, expands multi-year strategic alliances, and collaborates cross-functionally to design innovative partnership platforms.
This position requires a seasoned leader with deep knowledge of pharmaceutical industry structures, strong business development acumen, and demonstrated success securing six- and seven-figure corporate partnerships. Periodic travel required, including attendance at national scientific conferences and partner meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Revenue Growth
- Develop and implement a multi-year strategic plan for pharmaceutical and biotech partnerships aligned with OCRA’s organizational priorities.
- Own and grow a national portfolio of industry partners, with clear annual revenue and growth targets.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, negotiate, close, and steward an expanding portfolio of corporate partnerships, including multi-year and enterprise-level agreements.
- Expand integrated alliance models that support research initiatives, education and awareness campaigns, patient support programs, policy efforts, and scientific convenings.
- Monitor industry trends, therapeutic pipelines, and compliance considerations to proactively identify partnership opportunities.
Corporate Relationship Management & Alliance Development
- Provide executive-level stewardship and strategic oversight for 30–40+ pharmaceutical and biotech partners.
- Design customized partnership platforms that align corporate objectives with OCRA’s programmatic priorities.
- Lead contract negotiations in collaboration with Executive Leadership and legal advisors.
- Develop structured annual engagement and stewardship plans for an evolving set of high priority partners.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry funding standards and nonprofit best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Research, Programs, Advocacy, Marketing, and Development teams to identify scalable funding opportunities across initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between programmatic needs and corporate engagement strategy.
- Work closely with Marketing and Communications to appropriately recognize industry partners while maintaining mission integrity.
- Partner with Finance to forecast revenue, manage budgets, and track partnership performance metrics.
Gynecologic Cancer Collaborative & External Representation
- Lead and strategically expand OCRA’s Gynecologic Cancer Collaborative to strengthen thought partnership and sector engagement.
- Represent OCRA at major scientific conferences and industry meetings.
- Cultivate relationships with Patient Advocacy, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Corporate Affairs, and Business Development leaders within pharmaceutical organizations.
- Serve as a visible ambassador for OCRA in industry-facing settings.
Qualifications:
- 7-10+ years of progressive experience in corporate partnerships, pharmaceutical business development, strategic alliances, or nonprofit corporate fundraising.
- Demonstrated success in designing and executing a productive multi-year industry engagement strategy.
- Demonstrated success securing and growing six- and seven-figure corporate partnerships, with a consistent record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
- Deep understanding of pharmaceutical industry structures, funding mechanisms, clinical development lifecycle, and compliance considerations.
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate scientific and clinical information; background in oncology or drug development strongly preferred.
- Strong executive presence and relationship management skills with ability to engage senior-level corporate stakeholders.
- Experience negotiating complex contracts and managing multi-year strategic alliances.
- Strategic thinker with ability to translate organizational priorities into compelling partnership platforms.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and influence organizational strategy.
- Strong proposal development, grant writing, and partnership design capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
