Bridge Builders to the New Generation (BBNG) is a nonprofit organization committed to serving marginalized communities, with a dedicated emphasis on supporting African American males and students from underserved, low-income, and first-generation backgrounds. BBNG provides a range of services designed to promote social-emotional learning, restorative practices, mentorship, and academic support to help youth overcome structural barriers and thrive within educational and community settings.
Position Description:
BBNG is seeking a Program Coordinator to lead and implement restorative justice and social-emotional programming for Elementary School Scholars. This individual will play a key role in transforming school culture, fostering student accountability, and creating safe, healing-centered environments for student growth.
Unlike traditional academic roles, this position focuses specifically on conflict resolution, SEL (social-emotional learning), student engagement, and restorative practices. Additionally, a percentage of the Program Coordinator’s time will include facilitating structured lunch and recess activities that promote positive peer interactions and social-emotional development.
The Program Coordinator will facilitate daily restorative activities, conduct 1-on-1 student check-ins, lead after-school workshops, support conflict mediation, and assist in schoolwide culture-building efforts. The ideal candidate is compassionate, culturally responsive, and passionate about youth development.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Restorative Justice & Conflict Resolution – 50%
- Lead daily proactive classroom circles to strengthen peer relationships
- Facilitate small group pull-outs and mediate peer conflict
- Document all restorative justice interventions and outcomes
- Report and support resolution of verbal and physical altercations
- Collaborate with school care teams to address root causes of student behavior
Classroom Observation & Student Advocacy – 20%
- Observe student engagement and identify barriers to participation
- Collaborate with educators to tailor student support strategies
- Coach students on self-advocacy and communication with school staff
- Reinforce conflict resolution and SEL skills through follow-up meetings
After-School & Recess Community Building – 30%
- Facilitate after-school programs rooted in BBNG’s Three L Theory (Losses, Lessons, and Legacy)
- Deliver SEL-based workshops to support emotional growth and peer connection
- Lead lunchtime and recess activities that foster inclusion and healthy social development
- Provide safe space programming that promotes trust, identity exploration, and cultural connectedness
