    Description

Bridge Builders to the New Generation (BBNG) is a nonprofit organization committed to serving marginalized communities, with a dedicated emphasis on supporting African American males and students from underserved, low-income, and first-generation backgrounds. BBNG provides a range of services designed to promote social-emotional learning, restorative practices, mentorship, and academic support to help youth overcome structural barriers and thrive within educational and community settings.

    Position Description:

BBNG is seeking a Program Coordinator to lead and implement restorative justice and social-emotional programming for Elementary School Scholars. This individual will play a key role in transforming school culture, fostering student accountability, and creating safe, healing-centered environments for student growth.

Unlike traditional academic roles, this position focuses specifically on conflict resolution, SEL (social-emotional learning), student engagement, and restorative practices. Additionally, a percentage of the Program Coordinator’s time will include facilitating structured lunch and recess activities that promote positive peer interactions and social-emotional development.

The Program Coordinator will facilitate daily restorative activities, conduct 1-on-1 student check-ins, lead after-school workshops, support conflict mediation, and assist in schoolwide culture-building efforts. The ideal candidate is compassionate, culturally responsive, and passionate about youth development.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Restorative Justice & Conflict Resolution – 50%

      • Lead daily proactive classroom circles to strengthen peer relationships
      • Facilitate small group pull-outs and mediate peer conflict
      • Document all restorative justice interventions and outcomes
      • Report and support resolution of verbal and physical altercations
      • Collaborate with school care teams to address root causes of student behavior

    Classroom Observation & Student Advocacy – 20%

      • Observe student engagement and identify barriers to participation
      • Collaborate with educators to tailor student support strategies
      • Coach students on self-advocacy and communication with school staff
      • Reinforce conflict resolution and SEL skills through follow-up meetings

    After-School & Recess Community Building – 30%

      • Facilitate after-school programs rooted in BBNG’s Three L Theory (Losses, Lessons, and Legacy)
      • Deliver SEL-based workshops to support emotional growth and peer connection
      • Lead lunchtime and recess activities that foster inclusion and healthy social development
      • Provide safe space programming that promotes trust, identity exploration, and cultural connectedness

    Core Competencies:

      • Deep commitment to community service and educational equity
      • Strong ability to connect authentically with diverse youth populations
      • Culturally responsive mindset with a passion for restorative practices
      • Emotional resilience and ability to navigate challenging environments
      • Effective communication with school staff, administrators, and families
      • Leadership, empathy, and the ability to model healthy emotional behavior
