    Descripción

Executive Director / Director of Operations & Fundraising

Vietnam Animal Aid and Rescue (VAAR) is looking for an experienced animal rescue professional to take over the leadership of our organization.

After more than a decade of building VAAR, we are looking for someone who can take the organization to its next stage and, most importantly, build a structure that is financially sustainable without the founder carrying everything personally.

We are a VEGAN animal rights organization and a successful candidate will understand anti-speciesism well and be able to communicate these principles effectively throughout our media, marketing, and face-to-face communication.

This is not a shelter manager position. We are looking for an experienced leader who understands animal rescue, nonprofit management, international fundraising, staff management, and overseas adoptions.

The person we are looking for must be able to:

🐾 Raise a minimum of $120,000 USD per year in unrestricted and program funding to maintain the organization's core operations.

🐾 Develop and execute a professional fundraising strategy targeting our primary donor market in the United States and other English-speaking countries.

🐾 Take full responsibility for financial planning, budgeting and careful allocation of limited funds, working closely with the organization's US-based nonprofit structure.

🐾 Manage and develop our staff, including Human Resources, recruitment, performance management, training, and accountability.

🐾 Build a professional, stable, and respectful workplace culture.

🐾 Oversee animal care standards and ensure that the shelter and sanctuary are operating efficiently and responsibly.

🐾 Develop and manage international adoption programs, including relationships with adoption partners, transport organizations, foster networks and adopters overseas.

🐾 Build relationships with international animal rights organizations, donors, foundations, businesses and individual supporters.

🐾 Represent VAAR professionally with donors, partners, volunteers, adopters and the wider animal welfare community.

🐾 Identify opportunities to increase organizational income while reducing unnecessary expenditure.

    Essential qualifications

    VEGAN

Extensive professional experience in animal rescue, animal welfare, or sanctuary management.

Proven fundraising experience with a demonstrated ability to raise at least $120,000 USD annually.

Fluent written and spoken English. English is essential because our primary fundraising market is English-speaking. You do not need to be a native speaker, however. Additional languages ideal. Interest in learning basic Vietnamese is vital.

Strong experience managing employees and Human Resources.

Strong financial management and budgeting skills.

Experience with international animal adoption and/or animal transport.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage conflict professionally and build positive relationships with staff, donors, partners, and volunteers.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to make difficult decisions based on the organization's actual financial resources.

Experience working with international donors or nonprofit organizations is highly desirable.

We are looking for a leader, not a caretaker.

The successful candidate must be capable of taking ownership of the organization rather than requiring the founder to continually supervise basic operations, solve staffing problems, manage fundraising emergencies, or make every financial decision.

You should be comfortable working independently, setting priorities, delegating responsibility, and being accountable for results.

This is a significant leadership position with real responsibility for the future of an established animal rescue organization.

If you have the experience, fundraising ability and leadership skills to take VAAR forward, we want to hear from you.

Please send your CV/resume, a brief cover letter explaining your relevant experience, and examples of your fundraising and/or animal welfare work to info@vnanimalaid.org.

Please do not apply if you do not have substantial professional animal rescue experience and a proven fundraising track record.
