    About Impact Teen Drivers

Impact Teen Drivers (ITD) is a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to saving lives and preventing serious injuries on our roadways. Our mission is to develop, promote, and facilitate evidence-based education and strategies to save lives and reduce injuries and fatalities caused by reckless and distracted driving, while promoting shared roadway responsibility among all roadway users, including drivers, passengers, bicyclists, pedestrians, and micromobility users.

ITD uses evidence-based prevention, education, youth and parent engagement, community partnerships, and capacity building to address the behaviors and decisions that contribute to roadway injuries and fatalities. We work with schools, law enforcement, traffic safety agencies, community organizations, corporations, and other partners across the country.

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and highly dependable Education Outreach Manager to advance ITD's education, youth and parent engagement, partnership development, and community-based prevention efforts throughout Northern California.

    Position Overview

The Education Outreach Manager (EOM) implements and expands ITD's evidence-based education, training, youth and parent engagement, and community partnership efforts in California. The most qualified candidate will have demonstrated experience developing, coordinating, and delivering programming and outreach that meaningfully engages teens and parents.

A significant component of the role involves implementing regional initiatives supported through grants and corporate partnerships. Initiatives may combine youth education and leadership, peer engagement, parent and family engagement, community partnerships, professional training, digital learning resources, and events.

The role extends well beyond delivering presentations. The EOM must be able to understand project goals, build relationships with the right partners, develop and execute implementation plans, coordinate multiple activities, identify solutions when challenges arise, and maintain the communication, documentation, and evaluation necessary to demonstrate progress and results.

The successful candidate will be equally comfortable engaging teens and parents, training educators or law enforcement professionals, meeting with school and community leaders, coordinating a multi-part regional initiative, and representing ITD with public agencies, funders, corporate partners, and community organizations.

Considerable independence comes with the position. Strong organization, proactive communication, sound judgment, accountability, and consistent follow-through are essential.

    Location & Travel

The position is Northern California-based and hybrid. The successful candidate must reside within the Greater Bay Area through the Sacramento region and be positioned to regularly support programming and partnerships throughout the region.

Regular travel is an essential part of the position and may include schools, community organizations, trainings, conferences, partner meetings, and youth and parent events. Travel elsewhere in California and occasional out-of-state travel may also be required.

Occasional evening and weekend work and periodic overnight travel are required.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Regional Initiatives & Partnership Development
      • Lead implementation of assigned regional, grant-funded, and corporate-supported initiatives from planning through execution and evaluation.
      • Translate project goals and deliverables into coordinated local implementation plans.
      • Develop and sustain relationships with schools, youth-serving organizations, parent networks, law enforcement, public health and traffic safety agencies, businesses, and other community partners.
      • Coordinate multi-component initiatives that may include youth and parent education, youth leadership and peer engagement, community events, professional training, digital resources, and partner activation.
      • Identify opportunities to expand ITD's reach and build local capacity for sustained implementation.
      • Identify barriers and emerging opportunities and bring forward solutions aligned with project goals and ITD's evidence-based approach.
      • Represent ITD professionally with community, public-sector, corporate, and funding partners.
    • Education, Youth & Parent Engagement
      • Deliver ITD's evidence-based programs and presentations to teens, parents, educators, law enforcement, community organizations, and other audiences.
      • Develop outreach strategies that effectively reach and engage teens and parents through schools, community organizations, public agencies, and other partners.
      • Create meaningful opportunities for youth participation, leadership, and peer-to-peer engagement.
      • Engage parents and caregivers as important influences on teen driving and riding behaviors and safe decision-making.
      • Facilitate Train-the-Trainer workshops that build the capacity of educators, public safety professionals, and community partners to deliver ITD programming.
      • Facilitate engaging, age-appropriate, and culturally responsive learning experiences while maintaining fidelity to ITD's evidence-based approach, curriculum, messaging, and brand standards.
      • Support education across ITD's priority areas, including reckless and distracted driving, occupant protection, graduated driver licensing, speed, shared roadway responsibility, and emerging issues such as micromobility.
    • Project Management, Evaluation & Accountability
      • Manage assigned projects and program activities, including timelines, scheduling, outreach, logistics, materials, documentation, evaluation, and follow-up.
      • Understand project goals, deliverables, performance expectations, and partner commitments and take ownership of keeping work on track.
      • Maintain accurate and timely program, partnership, travel, and grant-related records.
      • Support evaluation through accurate and consistent data collection and use available information to assess reach, identify gaps, and strengthen implementation.
      • Maintain an accurate calendar that provides appropriate visibility into programs, travel, meetings, events, PTO, and other significant commitments.
      • Communicate proactively with ITD leadership and team members about progress, priorities, challenges, partner needs, and emerging opportunities.
      • Raise potential problems early, bring forward possible solutions, and consistently follow through on commitments.
      • Contribute information and documentation needed for grant reports, funder and partner updates, proposals, and organizational planning.
    • Organizational & Strategic Contribution
      • Understand how ITD's education, youth and parent engagement, partnerships, community capacity building, and evaluation work together to influence behavior and reduce roadway injuries and fatalities.
      • Stay current on relevant traffic safety, injury prevention, youth and parent engagement, education, and behavior-change practices.
      • Share insights from the field to inform program improvement, partnership strategy, and organizational decision-making.
      • Use established organizational systems and processes consistently while contributing thoughtful ideas for improvement.
      • Participate in team planning, professional development, and other organizational initiatives.

    What We Are Looking For

The strongest candidate will bring more than strong presentation skills. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of an initiative, build meaningful relationships, engage communities, and become a trusted representative of ITD.

The most qualified candidate will have direct professional experience engaging teens and parents through education, prevention, community outreach, youth development, public health, or related programming. Experience implementing multi-component community initiatives involving schools, families, youth-serving organizations, public agencies, or community partners will be particularly valuable.

    Successful candidates will demonstrate:

    • An ability to connect authentically and professionally with teens, parents, and diverse community audiences.
    • Experience engaging youth as active participants and potential leaders rather than simply recipients of information.
    • An understanding of the important influence parents and caregivers have on teen behavior and strategies for engaging them effectively.
    • Strong facilitation and presentation skills across different audiences.
    • An ability to translate project strategy into organized, effective community implementation.
    • Strong relationship-building skills and consistent follow-through.
    • Ownership of responsibilities and the ability to work independently without waiting for each next step to be assigned.
    • Sound judgment, including knowing when to act independently and when to seek guidance.
    • Proactive communication, particularly when something is unclear, delayed, or at risk.
    • Strong organization and the ability to manage multiple projects, partners, deadlines, events, and travel commitments.
    • Excellent professional written communication and documentation.
    • A collaborative, solution-oriented approach and receptiveness to feedback and continuous improvement.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in education, public health, communications, behavioral or social sciences, nonprofit management, or a related field required.
    • At least three years of relevant professional experience in education, training, community outreach, public health, injury prevention, youth development, program management, or a related area.
    • Demonstrated professional experience developing, coordinating, delivering, or expanding programs or outreach for teens and/or parents strongly preferred.
    • Experience coordinating community-based programs or initiatives involving multiple partners, activities, or audiences strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience with group presentations, education, training, or facilitation.
    • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining external partnerships.
    • Strong project-management, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and the ability to learn and consistently use organizational systems for scheduling, project tracking, evaluation, and documentation.
    • Experience with grant- or funder-supported initiatives, program evaluation, schools, public agencies, law enforcement, corporate partnerships, or community-based organizations is highly desirable.
    • Experience with evidence-based prevention, behavior change, traffic safety, public health, or youth development is desirable.
    • Bilingual or multilingual skills are valued but not required.
    • Valid driver's license, safe driving record, and ability to travel as required by the position.

    Work Culture

ITD is a mission-driven organization with a national reach and a relatively small team. Every team member's work matters, and how we work together matters as much as individual performance.

We value professionalism, accountability, thoughtful communication, consistency, collaboration, and follow-through. Team members are trusted to manage significant responsibilities independently while recognizing how their work connects to the broader team and organizational goals.

ITD continually evaluates and strengthens its programs, systems, and strategies. Team members are expected to be receptive to feedback, willing to learn, comfortable with accountability, and prepared to contribute solutions when challenges arise. Clear and consistent processes help our team collaborate effectively while still valuing individual experience, judgment, creativity, and perspective.
