Location: Miami, FL (hybrid with flexibility needed to work some weekends, evenings and holidays if needed)
Compensation: $50,000 - $60,000, commensurate with experience

Vocal Youth Miami empowers young people through vocal music experiences that build life skills and foster connection, self expression, and community. We serve students in multiple neighborhoods across Miami-Dade through choirs, songwriting, leadership programs, summer intensives, and performances that center youth voice.

Position Overview
The Development & Marketing Manager plays a key role in growing Vocal Youth Miami's community of supporters, students, families, and partners. Through thoughtful donor stewardship, compelling storytelling, and strategic communications, this person helps inspire generosity, strengthen relationships, recruit students, and increase awareness of our mission.
Working closely with the Executive Artistic Director, this person leads donor stewardship, fundraising campaigns, communications, recruitment marketing, and community engagement. They oversee the organization's external communications, including email marketing, social media, website content, and storytelling, while ensuring these efforts support fundraising, student recruitment, audience development, and community partnerships.
A key part of this role is helping build a culture of philanthropy around Vocal Youth Miami by inspiring people to connect with our mission, invest in our young people, and deepen their support over time.
We're looking for an exceptional communicator and relationship builder who is excited to help grow Vocal Youth Miami through thoughtful fundraising, meaningful storytelling, and strategic marketing. The ideal candidate enjoys building authentic relationships as much as creating communications and understands that every interaction, whether welcoming a donor to a rehearsal, writing a newsletter, planning a recruitment campaign, or sharing a student's story, is an opportunity to strengthen our community and advance our mission.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Engagement and Stewardship
- Build meaningful relationships with donors through thoughtful communication and year-round stewardship.
- Coordinate donor acknowledgements, recognition, and appreciation efforts.
- Develop and implement annual stewardship plans for Founder Circle supporters, major donors, and prospective donors.
- Strengthen donor retention and deepen engagement through meaningful storytelling, communication, and experiences that demonstrate the impact of their investment.
- Coordinate donor cultivation opportunities at performances, rehearsals, and special events.
- Partner with the CEO in moving donor prospects through the cultivation pipeline.
- Coordinate meaningful experiences that connect donors and community partners to the impact of Vocal Youth Miami.
- Help build a culture of philanthropy by inspiring supporters to see themselves as part of Vocal Youth Miami's mission and impact.
Fundraising Campaigns
- Coordinate annual fundraising campaigns, including Give Miami Day, annual giving, benefit concerts, and special appeals.
- Help develop integrated fundraising campaigns across email, social media, events, and print.
- Grow Founders Circle membership by inspiring people to invest in Vocal Youth Miami's mission and deepen their support year over year.
- Maintain accurate donor and prospect records in Bloomerang.
- Process gifts and ensure timely acknowledgements.
- Generate reports and mailing lists for fundraising campaigns and stewardship.
- Assist with grant support materials, donor communications, and board development reports.
- Coordinate volunteer fundraising ambassadors and community champions for Give Miami Day and other campaigns.
Marketing, Communications & Recruitment
- Oversee communications across email, website, social media, and other digital platforms.
- Develop and manage the organization's communications calendar.
- Write and distribute newsletters, fundraising emails, recruitment campaigns, and community updates.
- Use compelling storytelling to share Vocal Youth Miami's impact on young people across Miami-Dade County and inspire people to invest in and join our mission.
- Develop and oversee Vocal Youth Miami's social media strategy, coordinating content creation with staff and creative contractors to ensure our storytelling supports recruitment, fundraising, audience engagement, and brand awareness.
- Collaborate with photographers, videographers, and program staff to gather stories, photos, and videos that highlight student impact.
- Use stories of student and community impact to strengthen relationships with existing supporters and inspire deeper engagement and investment.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to increase Vocal Youth Miami's visibility through media, community partnerships, events, and digital storytelling.
- Maintain consistent branding and messaging across all communications.
- Update website content and support the creation of marketing materials for programs and performances.
- Partner with program staff to develop and execute recruitment campaigns that grow enrollment across Vocal Youth Miami programs.
Development Operations
- Maintain Bloomerang to ensure accurate donor records, reporting, campaign tracking, and stewardship activities.
- Create and monitor fundraising dashboards and campaign metrics.
- Assist with board, committee, and funder materials.
- Continuously improve development and communications systems to support organizational growth.
- Monitor communications and fundraising performance metrics and recommend improvements based on results.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 2-5 years of professional experience (such as sales, marketing, communications, nonprofit, or related work).
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, especially for email and digital communication.
- Demonstrated ability to write in an authentic, engaging voice for a variety of audiences.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build authentic relationships.
- Comfortable learning and using digital tools, including Google Workspace, Asana, Canva, and CRM software.
- Willingness to learn fundraising best practices and CRM/database use.
- Self-starter who enjoys working independently while collaborating with a small team.
- Ability to occasionally work evenings or weekends for events.
- Passion for young people, arts, and community-centered work.
Work Environment
- Full-time hybrid position based in Miami.
- Flexible work environment with opportunities for remote work.
- Occasional evenings and weekends required for performances, donor events, and recruitment activities.
