    We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Outreach Associate to join our team. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in their community and possess a diverse skill set. The Outreach Associate will play a crucial role in supporting various programs and initiatives, ensuring effective management and execution of projects that align with our mission. The Outreach Associate is primarily responsible for leading base building and mobilizing efforts in assigned geographies.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The essential functions (i.e., the fundamental job duties of the position) are as follows:

    • Lead base-building and mobilizing efforts, including:
    • Create flyers and other outreach materials for use in community outreach.
    • Conduct door-to-door outreach and phone calls.
    • Table at community events to recruit and engage residents in Leadership Counsel efforts.
    • Lead logistics planning for community meetings, resident participation at government meetings, hearings, and workshops (local, regional, state).
    • Maintain call lists and relevant databases.

    Support local, regional, and state policy advocacy efforts, including:

    • Contribute to the development of educational curriculum including presentations and interactive activities to support resident participation in strategy development.
    • Identify community residents, local community groups and potential allies to engage in advocacy efforts.
    • Recruit residents to participate in leadership development efforts.
    • Maintain filing system of agendas and other relevant documents for each community.
    • Participate in community meetings to support with facilitation, interpretation, note-taking, follow up, and resident participation when necessary and as directed by the Community Advocacy Manager.
    • Participate in coalition meetings as necessary.
    • Facilitate resident engagement and participation in media relations and strategies.
    • Organize public events, actions, rallies and other direct actions to support advocacy goals.

    Support sustained civic engagement strategies, including:

    • Draft community education materials to support civic engagement.
    • Support voter engagement efforts including, but not limited to: canvassing, phone banking, and texting.

    Administrative Duties, including:

    • Maintain time records of all activities as directed by co-executive directors or chief operating officer.
    • Maintain files in accordance with office policies.

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    The following qualifications are required for this position:

    Education: High school diploma, or commensurate work experience.

    Certifications/Technical Skills/Proficiencies:

    • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite.
    • Excellent verbal and writing skills in English.
    • Exceptional project management skills.
    • Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish

    Other Traits, Capacities, and Requirements:

    • Ability to regularly work long hours, evenings, and weekends.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to travel within the State of California including throughout California and 1-2 times out of state per year.
    • Drivers’ License and access to personal vehicle and insurance coverage.
    • Reliable access to a personal cell phone.
    • Reliable access to the internet.
    • Comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

    The following qualifications are highly desired, but not required, for this position: Prior experience in canvassing and phone banking.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move or remain in a stationary position, to perform clerical duties in the office, and operate computer and related office machinery. The employee must have the ability to conduct door-to-door outreach and conduct meetings. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds of tools or other equipment. Constantly operate a variety of functions on the computer (e.g., including reading and responding to email) along with other office productivity machinery, such as telephone, calculator, print and copy machine, etc. The person in this position is required to frequently and effectively communicate with callers and community members, in person, via email and over the phone. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations, and able to read from a computer screen and paper documents.

    Ability to drive frequently and for long hours in a day to community meetings, hearings, conferences, and other related activities (some of which may be in rural areas), ability to conduct door-to-door outreach and conduct meetings both in-person and remotely, and ability to set up for events/meetings including lifting materials and supplies such as chairs, easels, tables.

    Employees share office space with one or more other staff members. This position typically functions indoors, in office environments with light to moderate noise, and in community gathering venues, private homes or government buildings with both small and large groups of people where noise levels may be higher than in a typical office setting. The position requires travel for meetings and events, including various outdoor worksites.

    This position also functions in an outdoor setting and may include moderate to loud noise associated with outdoor music and crowds.

    Compensación

The starting hourly rate for this role ranges from $25.00 to $35.00.
