    Position Summary

    The Public Art position develops, stewards, and strengthens key relationships to advance Amplify Arts’ mission to uplift local artists. It leads public art partnership development, outreach, and project management to foster collaborations with artists, community partners, and cultural institutions. This role helps guide strategic direction by aligning projects with organizational goals and values, coordinating multi-stage partnership processes, and overseeing budgets and partnership contracts.

    Responsibilities associated with managing public art partnership projects from start to finish include drafting proposals and agreements, managing timelines, cost estimating, budgeting, stakeholder relationships, and all phases of production. It serves as the primary liaison between clients and internal teams, communicating with partners, and providing regular updates to ensure that complex, multi-stakeholder projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards with clarity and accountability. Success requires exceptional communication skills, strong leadership abilities, and extensive project management experience.

    As part of the staff, the role contributes to strategic planning, budgeting, and internal communication while helping cultivate a collaborative, inclusive work environment grounded in equity and creativity. It also represents Amplify Arts at community events and partner meetings.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Project Management & Administration

    • Manage multiple concurrent public art partnership projects from conception through installation and closeout.
    • Lead planning efforts by developing project scopes, timelines, fabrication plans, and deliverables in collaboration with staff.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, artists, and internal teams throughout each project’s lifecycle.
    • Support assessment of feasibility, fabrication methods, and installation logistics.
    • Organize and facilitate project meetings, maintain consistent communication, and provide regular updates to ensure clarity and accountability.
    • Draft proposals, agreements, partner communications, and project documentation aligned with organizational policies and partnership goals.

    Budget & Financial Oversight

    • Analyze project scopes, drawings, and specifications to develop detailed estimates for time, materials, and labor.
    • Monitor financial performance and proactively address variances or contingencies.
    • Support financial reporting and ensure accurate tracking of revenue, payments and resource allocation.

    Installation & Project Closeout

    • Plan and coordinate installation logistics including site preparation and rigging requirements.
    • Manage insurance and regulatory compliance as required.
    • Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including reports, manuals, and condition assessments.
    • Lead post-project evaluations and identify opportunities for process improvement.

    Partnership Development & Community Engagement

    • Build and steward relationships with artists, community partners, developers, businesses, funders, government agencies, and cultural institutions.
    • Identify and pursue new partnership and revenue-generating opportunities aligned with the organization’s mission.
    • Lead engagement efforts, including research, meetings, presentations, and drafting partnership proposals.
    • Represent the organization at community events, site visits, and industry convenings.

    Strategic Management & Multi-Stage Project Oversight

    • Develop comprehensive project proposals and scopes of work.
    • Manage communication with potential partners and collaborators.
    • Formalize agreements, budgets, and project expectations.
    • Facilitate information sessions, review panels, and equitable evaluation processes.
    • Coordinate feedback procedures and ensure transparency at all stages.
    • Organize artist contracting, budget finalization, and timeline coordination.
    • Oversee installation planning, adhering to necessary protocols, and on-site execution.
    • Ensure all projects reflect organizational values, equity commitments, and creative goals.

    Organizational Leadership & Collaboration

    • Support organizational earned and contributed income goals through public art partnerships.
    • Contribute to strategic planning, organizational goal-setting, and collective decision-making.
    • Participate in the development and monitoring of organizational budgets.
    • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and values-driven work environment grounded in equity, creativity, and care.
    • Collaborate with staff on organizational initiatives and programming.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in partnership development, project management, community engagement, or related roles.
    • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
    • Comfort with self-direction and proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
    • Ability to prioritize relationships, projects, and tasks that support a long-term vision.
    • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting artists and creative communities.

    Preferred:

    • Background in the arts, nonprofit, or community and business development sectors.
    • Familiarity with Gmail and Google Business Suite.

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements

    This position is based in Omaha, Nebraska, and requires regular in-person collaboration with team members, partners, and community stakeholders. While some work may be performed remotely, this is not a fully remote role. The position involves a hybrid work environment with a combination of home-based work and in-person meetings, events, and site visits as needed.

    The role requires reliable access to transportation for local meetings and community engagements throughout the Omaha metro area. Evening or weekend availability may occasionally be required for programs or partner events. Candidates must have access to a personal laptop and a stable internet connection to perform essential job functions. This position primarily involves sedentary work at a computer, with occasional light physical activity related to event setup or project installation. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary: $72,100.00
    • Benefits: 403b: contribution match up to 3%, 80% health insurance reimbursement, personal time off (PTO eligibility begins immediately upon hire).
    • Schedule: At Amplify Arts, the usual work week period is 32 hours. Amplify Arts trusts that employees are capable of managing their own schedule. Since Amplify Arts practices person-centered PTO, employees are encouraged to take time to celebrate holidays in a way that honors them. Staff will collectively determine separate, reasonable ‘office closed’ dates as necessary throughout the year, including 13 identified holidays.

    Hiring Timeline and Process

    Though this position will remain open until filled, we anticipate the following timeline and process:

    Timeline:

    • January 5, 2026: Applications open

    • April 13, 2026: Start date

    Interview process:

    The interview process will include 2 rounds, with the option of in-person or Zoom meetings (depending on the location and preference of the candidate). Amplify will provide each candidate with interview questions at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled interview time.
