    PT Development Associate

    Community-Word Project (CWP), founded in 1997 and incorporated in 2000, uses creative writing and multidisciplinary arts as a necessary element of public school education to ensure that young people have the chance to envision, invest in, and build a community different from the one failing to meet their needs.

    Our mission is to facilitate culturally responsive, multidisciplinary art programs for students, teaching artists, and communities to develop and amplify their voices and creative skills.

    CWP seeks a Part-Time Development Associate (24 hours/3 days per week) with occasional evening or weekend hours to support essential administrative aspects of our Development and Communications work. The ideal candidate is interested in working with a team dedicated to improving the lives of young people in underinvested communities of NYC through the medium of the arts. The Development Associate plays a meaningful role in all fundraising and communications, including maintenance of our fundraising calendar; meeting preparation; gift/donation processing; donor and funder stewardship; prospect research; and fundraising events assistance. This position reports to the Director of Development.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Process donations and draft acknowledgement letters and other correspondence to forward funding pipelines
    • Conduct regular prospect research on potential sources of institutional grant/sponsorship funding
    • Maintain foundation, corporate, government, and individual electronic donor records
    • Maintain a fundraising calendar with updated cross-channel information, such as draft and submission deadlines and individual giving pipeline benchmarks.
    • Create, maintain and update Asana cards for Individual and Institutional Giving project management
    • Assemble quarterly donor newsletter in Mailchimp and maintain distribution lists for donor outreach
    • Serve as a point of contact for site visit scheduling, organizational updates, and grant submission
    • Assist with filing government, foundation and corporate forms
    • Maintain guest lists, registration and other duties for fundraising/cultivation events
    • Run reports and analyze donor statistics for campaign reporting and future outreach strategy
    • Assemble media and donor kits for events, and briefs for meetings
    • Other duties as assigned by the Development Director

    Experience and Knowledge

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field
    • Minimum 2 years administrative experience, preferably at not-for-profit organization
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Canva, and Asana
    • Experience with CRM databases necessary, Salesforce familiarity is a plus
    • Concise/effective verbal and written communications skills, and problem solving skills
    • Experience or familiarity with website, social media, CMS, Mail Chimp, design skills
    • Ability to organize and prioritize work and work independently with and without supervision
    • Interest in or knowledge of arts education and/or youth development programming and/or NYC Department of Education.
