Position Summary: The Professional Advancement Program Manager is primarily responsible for executing and continuously improving Prep for Prep's Student Internship Program and career development programming, with a primary focus on high school students. The Program Manager reports to the Director of Professional Advancement and works collaboratively with the Assistant Director, who primarily supports college students.
Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, these primary areas:
Support the execution of the Student Internship Program
- Manage the internship recruitment and selection process for high school students, including interviewing, tracking placement activities, employer outreach, and matching students with opportunities based on skills and interests.
- Provide career advising throughout the internship cycle, including internship search support, interview preparation, and placement.
- Review and provide feedback on student resumes and cover letters to ensure they are professional and competitive.
- Track student participation in workforce readiness activities in Salesforce and support efforts to ensure students complete required career preparation milestones.
- Research and evaluate external programs aligned with students' academic and career interests and manage associated outreach, application support, and organizational relationships.
- Collaborate with Post-Placement Counseling and Undergraduate Affairs to identify and nominate students for professional and leadership development opportunities and ensure relevant academic and program considerations are incorporated into placement and advising decisions.
- Act as a liaison between students, employers, and Prep for Prep staff to address concerns and maximize student success.
Event Management and Employer Engagement
- In collaboration with the Assistant Director, manage logistics for academic-year and summer career seminars, including promotion, registration, attendance, and day-of coordination.
- Manage logistics and implementation of corporate workforce readiness initiatives, including mock interviews, 1-on-1 resume reviews, and other career preparation activities.
- Maintain relationships with assigned employer contacts and support the Director and Assistant Director in developing employer partnerships and internship opportunities.
Program Management and Evaluation
- Maintain accurate student and program records within Salesforce and generate reports on student participation, placements, employer engagement, and program outcomes.
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize student and employer evaluation data to assess program effectiveness.
- Partner with the Director and Assistant Director to identify and implement program improvements based on data, feedback, and emerging workforce trends.
General Department Communications
- Communicate career, internship, and professional development opportunities to current students and early-career alumni.
- Respond to student, employer, and partner inquiries and follow up promptly.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3–5 years of experience in career advising, workforce development, internship programming, talent development, employer relations, or a related field, preferably supporting high school and/or college students.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and an excellent problem-solver with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities effectively.
- Ability to work effectively with high school students, undergraduates, colleagues, community stakeholders, employers, and supporters from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and work effectively with a variety of constituent groups.
- Commitment to Prep for Prep’s mission and demonstrated interest in supporting students' academic, professional, and career development.
- Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM/database systems and Google Workspace.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $72,000
