Descripción
The American Discovery Trail Society is a national, volunteer-based, membership organization dedicated to improving and promoting the country’s first nonmotorized coast-to-coast trail. We are seeking a part-time staffer to carry out the administrative functions of running the organization.
The organization maintains a mailing address in Virginia, but the work can be done from anywhere, in an office in your home.
This is an exciting time for the organization because on July 1 we are launching a high-profile, coast-to-coast relay to celebrate America’s 250th birthday supported on the ground by an employee and a volunteer. The coordinator will provide the office support for this effort.
Responsibilities include the various tasks involved in running a national organization with 1,000 members: maintaining the membership database; processing memberships, renewals, and donations; depositing checks, paying bills, and keeping the books (experience with Quickbooks a plus); overseeing printing of brochures and newsletters; responding to phone calls and e-mails from the public; potentially staffing a booth national meetings; servicing merchandise orders; and keeping track of numerous other tasks and details.
The job is primarily clerical, but provides an opportunity for growth and assumption of other responsibilities as time, ability, and inclination permits.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in hiking, trails, and the outdoors. With the publicity from the relay, we expect the organization to grow quickly in the next few years. Visit our website at
