    New Harvest is a research institute that accelerates responsible research and innovation (RRI) and collaboration among stakeholders in the field of cellular agriculture. We have entities in the US, Canada, and the Netherlands. As the nonprofit hub building the cellular agriculture ecosystem, New Harvest brings long-range vision to the space and addresses the fundamentals necessary to elevate the discipline and organize collective responsibility in this developing field.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    This position is a fixed-term, one-year contract. Due to the requirements of our funders, the candidate must live in Alberta, Canada.

    As the Program Coordinator (Research and Communications), you will play a key role in stakeholder convening and communication efforts that strengthen the Cellular Agriculture Prairies Ecosystem (CAPE) project. Working closely with partners, you will help generate data-driven and evidence-based resources to inform strategic decision-making and stakeholder activities.

    Your core responsibilities include connecting with and convening stakeholders from industry, academia, government and nonprofit sectors, gathering and analyzing data, conducting gap analyses, leading targeted research initiatives, and translating findings into clear, compelling narratives for a range of audiences, including government stakeholders and producer associations. You will also create visuals and other science communication tools to simplify complex ideas and make research more accessible.

    This position reports to the Director of Responsible Research and Innovation, Canada, and involves close collaboration with the broader New Harvest and CAPE research teams to develop impactful case studies, visual content, policy briefs and science-based stories that engage and inform.

    Fluency in oral and written English is required and fluency in oral and written French is preferred.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    Coordinate Stakeholder Activities

    • Serve as the facilitator and project coordinator for working groups within the CAPE project
    • Collaborate with academic, industry, nonprofit and policy partners to gather relevant data and evidence required for CAPE projects
    • Maintain clear and organized documentation and communication across multiple stakeholders
    • Develop user-friendly spreadsheets to collect all relevant data and evidence
    • Work closely with New Harvest Canada’s team to align activities with CAPE’s strategic goals

    Lead Knowledge Translation Efforts

    • Translate technical research into clear, engaging formats for non-expert audiences
    • Develop narratives and talking points that convey the relevance and impact of CAPE
    • Tailor messaging for diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, producer associations, funders, industry leaders, and the public
    • Design infographics, data visualizations, and slide decks to support science communication and stakeholder engagement
    • Write compelling case studies that highlight research milestones, partnerships, and field-building impact
    • Prepare summary reports, briefs, and presentations that support internal strategy and external outreach
    • Ensure consistency in messaging and alignment with organizational voice and values
    • Stay current on industry trends and policy developments in cellular agriculture to inform projects and communications strategies.
    • Support the development of digital platforms that will contain public resources related to CAPE

    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

    • Master’s degree in a field related to cellular agriculture (e.g. science communications, biotechnology, food science, tissue engineering, agriculture, etc.).
    • Proven experience in research coordination, analysis of data, and knowledge translation in a related industry or field.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
    • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts.
    • Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to gather and synthesize information and data from various sources.
    • Advanced organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Intrapreneurial attitude and work ethic
    • Ability to foster a collaborative working environment, encouraging the integration of others’ ideas
    • Demonstrated record of initiative, problem solving, and adaptability
    • Strong listening, communication, and collaboration skills
