    Who We Are

    Sadie Nash Leadership Project (SNLP) provides award-winning experiential social justice education and leadership development programs to nearly 700 young women and gender-expansive youth of color in New York City and Newark, NJ each year. Operating with love and rigor, we use the tools of popular education to build critical consciousness, community, and college readiness. Our programs include a nationally recognized six-week summer institute, in-school and after-school classes, college access and persistence support, and an advanced-level fellowship to design and implement an original social justice project. We strengthen, empower, and equip our participants to lead lives in committed pursuit of joy and liberation for self and community.

    Leadership Program Manager Description

    Sadie Nash Leadership Project is seeking a full time Leadership Program Manager to develop, implement and guide a range of our award-winning programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with and among a diverse group of stakeholders, experience in youth development, social justice education, college counseling and career readiness, and excellent program management skills. They are committed to supporting young women and gender-expansive youth of color, first-generation college students, and lower-income families while proactively advancing equity and access in their work environments.

    The Leadership Program Manager will oversee the coordination of our Summer Institute program, held across 5 locations in NYC and Newark, NJ , as well as any programs that fall under our Special Initiatives umbrella of programming that changes year-to-year. The Leadership Program Manager reports to the Assistant Director of Program and may supervise the Leadership Program Coordinator and part time staff, who are based out of NYC and Newark.

    What You’ll Do

    Program Development and Coordination:

    • Manage administrative aspects of program development and implementation of leadership programs (including budget, student attendance tracking and evaluation).
    • Includes the development and updating of educational and curriculum materials, including lesson plans, handouts, and multimedia resources.

    Youth and Community Engagement:

    • Compassionately facilitating youth leadership programs focused on self-determination and overcoming systemic barriers.
    • Build and sustain local partnerships and represent Sadie Nash in professional learning groups/networks, training sessions, outreach fairs, community events, and fundraising and promotional events throughout NYC and Newark, NJ.
    • Designing and facilitating parent/family engagement workshops, in-school information sessions, tabling events and initiatives that support program participant recruitment.

    Auxiliary Staff Supervision:

    • Managing part-time educators, interns, and volunteers to ensure the successful implementation of SNLP programming including the hiring, supervision, coverage support and professional development of those working within the manager’s programs.
    • Working collaboratively with SNLP educators to co-plan and/or co-facilitate core programming, special initiatives and events for Nashers and similar communities

    • Passionate and culturally attuned youth practitioner: Has at least 3-4 years of experience working with youth, bringing hands-on experience designing and running youth programs, and is deeply invested in empowering young people. Someone who combines programmatic skill with heart, shared purpose, and lived or deep cultural commitment to young women and gender-expansive youth, first-generation college students, people of color and lower-income families.
    • Inclusive Leader: Guided by Sadie Nash’s values, you have experience in overseeing a team of full time and part time staff, and sometimes volunteers. You are an accountable leader and have the ability to manage challenging situations and conversations with care and professionalism. You may also already have exposure to social justice frameworks such as Restorative and Healing Justice, Political Education and Intersectional Feminism that guide how you interact with team members and youth.
    • People Connector: Someone who enjoys connecting with people, has the skill set to build, facilitate and develop community spaces and is eager to connect with young people and collaborators to help bring our programs to NYC and Newark, NJ. This includes someone who is comfortable commuting to new places independently while also being excited to follow-up with connections when in the office.

    What else you should know

    This position is a full-time, non-exempt position and is based out of New York City. This is an on-site position with some flexibility for remote work: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, with an expectation of 40 hours per week. Applicants should be able to work outside of standard business hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.

    This position requires travel to schools and partner organizations across all NYC boroughs (except Staten Island) and Newark, NJ, based on recruitment and programming schedule. This also includes commuting to our satellite office in Newark, NJ for supervision and staff meetings. Travel and commuting expense reimbursement provided, up to a defined limit.

    The salary range for this position is $52,000-$60,000. Benefits include medical, vision, and dental coverage, a wellness stipend, generous paid leave, professional development fund and an employer contribution to your retirement fund.
