    About C5LA

C5LA is a youth leadership organization dedicated to transforming the lives of high school students from under-resourced communities in Los Angeles. Through rigorous outdoor expeditions, leadership development programming, and college access support, we equip young people with the skills, confidence, and network to succeed in college and beyond.

This is a mission-driven team where every team member plays a direct, visible role in the lives of the students we serve.

    The Opportunity

We are seeking a Leadership Development Manager who is energized by both the wildness of the outdoors and the complexity of human development. Reporting to the Leadership Development Director, you will serve as a case manager, workshop facilitator, summer camp leader, and program architect, all at once.

This is not just a desk job. You will build genuine relationships with students, guide them through transformative experiences on the trail and in the classroom, and help them chart a path to postsecondary success. You will also be a core member of a collaborative, fast-moving program team that holds itself to a high standard of execution.

    What You'll Do

    Student Relationships & Case Management

    • Build authentic, high-support relationships with each student on your caseload
    • Provide 1:1 coaching and advising sessions, ensuring every student has a concrete plan for postsecondary success
    • Manage all aspects of student engagement: communication, attendance tracking, and paperwork completion

    Programming & Facilitation

    • Design and facilitate leadership development workshops, curriculum, and year-round events (including weekends and after-school)
    • Serve as a Camp Leadership team member, planning, managing, and facilitating all operations of the Camp and Bridges summer experiences
    • Lead and support students through outdoor and expedition-based programming

    Operations & Team

    • Maintain accurate records in Salesforce, including student participation, contact information, demographics, and outcome data
    • Support student recruitment through presentations, application reviews, and interviews
    • Assist with seasonal staff recruitment, onboarding, and management
    • Represent C5LA externally at events, workshops, seminars, and conferences
    • Collaborate on team-wide project-based work as assigned

    What You Bring

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience working in youth leadership, college access, or community action
    • Direct experience with camping, outdoor education, or leading students in wilderness/expedition settings
    • Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with high school students from diverse backgrounds
    • Experience in group facilitation and experiential learning
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Salesforce (or similar CRM)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Valid California driver's license and ability to travel throughout LA
    • Physical ability to hike and access all activity areas of Camp
    • Availability to work some evenings and weekends, with an occasional Tuesday–Saturday schedule
    • Ability to be 'on duty' up to 24 hours per day during summer programs

    Who You Are

    • A genuine passion for C5LA's mission and the ability to inspire others around it
    • A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and adapts quickly to shifting priorities
    • Someone with a deep understanding of racial inequity and a commitment to centering equity in your work and relationships
    • A collaborative teammate who can hold their own projects while supporting a larger team

    Compensación

The salary range for this role is $70,500 – $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience. C5LA offers a robust benefits package including:

    • A mission-driven, collaborative work culture
    • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
    • Employer-matching 401(k)
    • Hybrid work schedule
    • Year-round professional development opportunities
