    Who We Are

At Breadcoin Foundation, our mission is to build strong, resilient, interconnected communities by revolutionizing community food systems and addressing gaps in food access. Through our unique token system accepted at local food vendors, we empower individuals and nourish neighbors in need. A physical coin and a tangible symbol of care, the Breadcoin is redeemable at a growing network of participating food vendors. Yet, it is more than just a token; it’s a network that connects communities. In this network, individuals, businesses, and nonprofits work together through the exchange of the Breadcoin token to expand opportunities and provide for their community’s needs.

Launched in 2016, Breadcoin first circulated in Washington D.C. and has continued expanding to more neighborhoods and new cities across America ever since. Breadcoin has become a conduit for innovation in community care around food. From nonprofits creating mobile food events in underserved communities using the Breadcoin, to schools using Breadcoins to provide food for students and their families during school breaks, to police officers, pastors and neighbors alike offering Breadcoins to those in need, this tool empowers and dignifies while creatively and sustainably responding to the needs of the community.

    The Need
