    Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: In-Person (On-site at Bay Ridge Center, Brooklyn, NY)

    Reports To: Executive Director

    Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

    Position Overview

Bay Ridge Center is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Finance Manager to oversee and enhance the organization’s financial operations. This on-site role is critical to maintaining a strong fiscal infrastructure that supports our mission of serving older adults.

The Finance Manager will lead budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting functions, working closely with both on-site staff and a remote financial services team to ensure compliance, accuracy, and strategic alignment. A key responsibility includes managing and reporting on a diverse portfolio of funding sources, including New York City and State grants, federal awards, and private contributions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong nonprofit financial management expertise and experience navigating the complexities of public grant compliance, reporting, and reimbursement—with the ability to balance day-to-day fiscal oversight and long-term financial planning.

    Key Responsibilities

    Executive Financial Oversight

    • Develop and implement long-term financial strategies in collaboration with the Executive Director.
    • Present financial updates to the Board of Directors quarterly and as needed.
    • Assist in the development of program budgets and grant proposals.
    • Evaluate and improve financial systems, controls, and operational procedures.
    • Provide monthly financial reports and insights to organizational leadership.
    • Monitor financial performance, forecasts, and cash flow to support decision-making.
    • Lead the annual budget process and manage mid-year budget adjustments.
    • Coordinate and support annual audits and funder reviews.

    Operational Financial Management

    • Manage day-to-day financial operations, payroll review, credit card reconciliation and supervise accounting staff.
    • Oversee restricted revenue management and ensure accurate allocation of grant funds.
    • Maintain and refine cost allocation plans and internal fiscal workflows quarterly.
    • Prepare and review grant budgets, reports, and funder reimbursement vouchers monthly, quarterly and semi-annually, as required.
    • Generate monthly and annual financial statements, including analytical narratives.
    • Ensure compliance with nonprofit GAAP and funder-specific financial requirements
    • Track and manage city, state, federal, and private grants to ensure accurate allocation and reporting in compliance with grantor requirements.
    • Maintain correspondence and organize contract documentation.

    Staffing Structure

This position works closely in person with the Operations Manager and Operations Associate, who handle day-to-day operational support and coordination.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA and/or nonprofit experience strongly preferred.
    • 3–7 years of experience in nonprofit financial management or public accounting.
    • Knowledge of city, state, and federal grant compliance, reporting requirements, and reimbursement procedures.
    • Solid understanding of GAAP, fund accounting, and nonprofit financial regulations.
    • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Intacct), Microsoft Office Suite, and cloud-based financial systems.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial staff.
    • Highly organized and adept at managing complex financial workflows and deadlines.

    Organizational Culture

Bay Ridge Center is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to enriching the lives of older adults. Our culture values community engagement, fiscal responsibility, and operational transparency. The Finance Manager will be a key partner in supporting impactful programs through sound financial leadership.
