    Health Information Exchange (HIE) Project Coordinator

    Position Summary

    The Health Information Exchange (HIE) Project Coordinator/Project Lead supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of health information exchange initiatives that improve healthcare coordination, interoperability, and data sharing among healthcare providers, public health agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

    Working within a nonprofit environment, this position assists with project management activities, stakeholder engagement, meeting coordination, reporting, and operational support for HIE and health information technology projects. The role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and an interest in healthcare data exchange and health equity.

    Key Responsibilities

    Project Coordination and Management

    • Support the planning, execution, and monitoring of HIE projects and initiatives.
    • Identify, recruit, and onboard healthcare organizations as Health Information Exchange (HIE) participants to expand network connectivity and support the secure exchange of patient health information.
    • Coordinate project timelines, deliverables, and milestones.
    • Track project activities and maintain project documentation.
    • Schedule and facilitate meetings, prepare agendas, and document meeting outcomes.
    • Monitor project risks and communicate potential issues to leadership.

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Serve as a point of contact for participating healthcare organizations, community partners, and project stakeholders.
    • Support outreach and engagement activities with providers, health systems, public health agencies, and community organizations.
    • Assist with stakeholder communications, presentations, and training materials.
    • Foster collaborative relationships that support project goals and organizational mission.

    Data and Reporting

    • Collect, organize, and maintain project-related data and records.
    • Assist with preparation of grant reports, status updates, and performance metrics.
    • Support evaluation activities and quality improvement initiatives.
    • Help ensure compliance with project requirements and reporting deadlines.

    Health Information Exchange Support

    • Assist with implementation and adoption of HIE services and interoperability initiatives.
    • Support onboarding activities for participating organizations.
    • Coordinate user feedback and communicate operational needs to technical teams.
    • Develop a working knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards and best practices.

    Administrative Support

    • Maintain project files, contracts, and related documentation.
    • Assist with budget tracking and grant-related administrative activities.
    • Support organizational events, webinars, and stakeholder meetings as needed.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Healthcare Informatics, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent experience.
    • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Proficiency with Google workspace and Salesforce.
    • Commitment to the mission and values of a nonprofit organization.

    Preferred

    • Experience working in healthcare, public health, nonprofit, or community-based organizations.
    • Familiarity with health information exchange, healthcare data, or electronic health records.
    • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability concepts, including HL7, FHIR, or related standards.
    • Experience supporting grant-funded projects.
    • Project management training or certification.

    Work Environment and Travel Requirements

    This is a fully remote position. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and effectively in a virtual environment while maintaining regular communication with team members, stakeholders, and project partners.

    Periodic travel is required to support project implementation, stakeholder engagement, training sessions, conferences, and organizational meetings. Travel may include in-state and occasional out-of-state trips and is expected to comprise approximately 10–20% of work time, depending on project needs.

    Candidates must have access to reliable internet service and be able to participate in virtual meetings and collaborative work activities during standard business hours.

    Salary Range

    • HIE Project Coordinator: $70,000.00 annually
