    About Swipe Out Hunger: Swipe Out Hunger is the national nonprofit powering the movement to end college student hunger. Swipe Out Hunger collaborates with colleges, legislators, and the greater community to address student food insecurity by championing hunger solutions, building an active network of campuses and partners, and evolving the narrative around today’s college students.     Position Summary

    Swipe Out Hunger is seeking a creative, mission-driven Editorial Coordinator to develop strong, consistent, compelling stories about college student hunger. This role will primarily focus on editorial content, including blogs, newsletters, web pages, and media products. This role will also occasionally support our development efforts through grant and report writing.

    This position is ideal for someone who believes in the power of words to change hearts and minds. We’re looking for an exceptional storyteller who can speak to important issues with clarity, passion, and dignity.

    Responsibilities and Tasks

    Editorial Content (60%)

    • Oversee the Swipe Out Hunger blog page, working with internal teams and external partners to identify, gather, write, and publish stories to the blog.
    • Oversee the production and editing processes for our three organizational newsletters, ensuring consistency and tailored messages to their unique audiences.
    • Write, edit, and support the design for resources like reports, toolkits, one-pagers, and FAQs.
    • Ensure website copy across the Swipe Out Hunger website is up-to-date and consistent with our tone and style.
    • In collaboration with the Interim Communications Director, support external media opportunities by writing and editing pitches and coordinating with journalists.
    • Conduct and transcribe interviews, both in-person and via Zoom, with college students, administrative staff, partners, and other individuals as needed to incorporate into Swipe Out Hunger’s content.

    Development Support (25%)

    • Support grant and report writing in collaboration with the development team by creating narratives from metrics of success.
    • Support writing and editing for funder reports, partner collaborations, and our annual Impact Report.
    • Support the development and execution of fundraising communication, particularly those aimed at individual giving through email campaigns in Hubspot and/or Bloomerang.

    Project Management and Administration (15%)

    • Support the management of the Communications Team’s project management boards and request forms in Monday.com.
    • Lead tracking and storage for Swipe Out Hunger’s media and storytelling efforts, including our media hits tracker, story bank, and Google Drive folders.
    • Regularly collect and report data on Swipe Out Hunger’s blog and newsletters.

    Other duties as assigned such as attending All Team meetings, All Team in-person work sessions, conferences, and other work internal and external to Swipe Out Hunger.

    Qualifications

    • 2-3 years of professional experience in writing and editing, journalism, communications, or a related field.
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher education experience that aligns with Swipe Out Hunger’s mission and the role.
    • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to tone, clarity, and accessibility.
    • Demonstrated ability to create consistent, compelling, audience-focused editorial content.
    • Experience with WordPress or a similar CMS.
    • Experience with HubSpot Marketing or similar CRM tools.
    • Experience with design platforms like Canva and Adobe Creative suites is a plus.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects.
    • Commitment to equity-centered storytelling and amplifying underrepresented voices.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary of $65,000. Swipe Out Hunger provides a supportive benefits package, including:

    This is a full-time, exempt position. Swipe Out Hunger provides a supportive benefits package, including 100% coverage for employees and 25% coverage for dependents. This includes medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401K retirement matching after 6 months tenure, flex time, a $500/year professional development stipend, and an annual ‘Work Comfortably from Home’ fund.

    Part 1: Video Screener Application

    The hiring manager will select candidates to submit a questions video screener to support their application. Design, social media or other portfolio examples may be requested.

    Part 2: Virtual Interviews via Zoom with Hiring Manager(s)

    Virtual interviews will be with the hiring manager(s). We will share specific details as the interview day approaches.

    Part 3: Follow-up Interview with members of the Swipe Out Hunger staff

    We will invite finalist candidates to a focused follow-up conversation to dig deeper into specific themes and topics from the virtual interview day and writing sample.

    Part 4: Reference Checks, Offer Extended

    Swipe Out Hunger will ask for 3-4 references per finalist, though we often ask for more.
