Part-time dog trainer at Putnam Service Dogs' Brewster, NY Training Center

We seek an experienced dog trainer who uses humane, kind methods to assist us in training our pups in training. We'll request 3 references.

Become part of an organization that performs heartwarming work! We provide service dogs to Veterans with PTSD and people with physical disabilities at no charge. Our current part time trainer worked for us for 2.5 years. We're a great team of dedicated folks working to lift up the lives of both our dogs, and their ultimate person.

Our pups have to be trained to act impeccably in public, and to achieve a consistent reliability with all obedience and tasks. Sensitivity to this is key to success in this job.

You'll visit volunteer puppy raiser homes once a week (all within an hour driving distance of our Brewster training center) to guide them in furthering their pup's progress in a 1 hour session. Visits are scheduled according to their and your schedule. You'll be reimbursed $.70/mile. Clarity and consistency in communication, patience, and kindness are essential to your success with our puppy raisers.

You'll spend 4-6 hours/week training our pups at our Training Center in Brewster (your choice of days/hours) in obedience, loose leash walking, and socializing at area stores, restaurants, etc. The Home Depot Mall is 3 miles from our center. You'll be reimbursed $.70/mile.

We have 2 other trainers which you'll be coordinating with to ensure our pups' success.

We will cover the cost of any approved course your take which will improve your ability to perform this job.

You must be a clear and consistent communicator with our puppy raisers, our other trainers, and our dogs for all to succeed.
