Who We Are & What We Do

Canvassing Connectors (CC) is a grassroots team of seasoned super-volunteers who’ve helped swing elections in Pennsylvania, Georgia, California, and New York since 2018. We specialize in deep canvassing—open-hearted, vulnerable, door-to-door conversations that help people connect voting to their personal values and lived experiences.

We engage people who’ve lost faith in politics and help them rediscover hope through voting. Deep canvassing is the most effective form of voter persuasion ever measured, and it’s a powerful tool in combating threats to democracy.

Early in 2024, we initiated our on-the-ground campaign in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, a critical swing region, training local activists and talking with voters about their fears and hopes. We don’t push candidates—we share personal stories, we listen, and we help people reconnect with their values of community and care.

    The Opportunity

We’re hiring a Canvas Field Organizer to lead our Lehigh Valley team for the 2025 election season where we’ll focus on judicial elections that will have critical local and national repercussions in the years to come. This is a fast-paced, full-time role running through November, with the opportunity to have real impact by working with a seasoned group of committed volunteer leaders and deep canvassers.

You’ll be helping to lead a volunteer-driven deep canvassing operation - building local relationships, recruiting volunteers, managing logistics, and ensuring smooth, efficient canvassing events. And you’ll be working with a group of people who love working together and are excited to collaborate with a new team member!

    Key Responsibilities

    Volunteer & Community Engagement

    • Manage volunteer canvassers and logistical support teams
    • Support and coordinate with local and remote volunteer team leaders
    • Build and maintain relationships with local partners and community members

    Team-Building

    • Work collaboratively with existing volunteer leadership teams to develop their members’ skills and grow participation numbers
    • Participate in team strategy sessions and contribute to systems improvement
    • Learn, teach, and improve on-the-ground and virtual organizing systems

    Data & Systems Management

    • Use voter databases (e.g., VAN, Mobilize) to maintain accurate canvassing records
    • Use voter databases to cut turf in preparation for weekly (or more frequent) canvass actions.
    • Manage data tracking, reporting, and analysis to evaluate effectiveness
    • Support volunteer list management, attendance tracking, and recruitment data

    Field Operations

    • Scout, secure, and manage local training and canvas sites, with an emphasis on building/maintaining relationships with host organizations
    • Scout potential canvas turf
    • Oversee logistics for canvassing days: materials preparation, supply ordering, loading/unloading, post-canvass sorting and inventory
    • Ensure volunteers are equipped with updated turf maps and materials
    • Post-canvas materials management

    What We're Looking For

We are seeking motivated, dynamic, and compassionate individuals with:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Experience recruiting and managing volunteers
    • Experience with VAN and with cutting turf for electoral campaigns
    • Experience with volunteer organization structure and love of team-building
    • Ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
    • Passion for voter engagement with the goal of protecting democracy and growing a compassionate electorate
    • Passion for the potential of community organizing
    • Curiosity, emotional intelligence, and a willingness to learn and grow
    • Skills and experience to support CC’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Very strong organizational skills and proficiency managing logistics
    • A systems mindset: able to understand, improve, and implement workflows
    • Tech savvy: experience with spreadsheets, databases, VAN
    • Ready to work evenings/weekends and to be in the field regularly
    • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
    • Deep canvassing experience is a plus but not a requirement; for organizers new to deep canvassing there will be opportunities to learn!
    • Experience fundraising is a plus

    Location Requirements

    • The ideal candidate will reside in the Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania area and be available to work in-person in the Lehigh Valley from September through November 2025. Candidates from other areas, especially in PA, will be considered.
    • CC will reimburse relocation fees that are approved in advance.
    • Some virtual work will also be part of the role.

    We Strongly Encourage Applications From:

    • Black, Indigenous & People of Color (BIPOC)
    • Multilingual speakers (especially Spanish/English)
    • Women and non-binary individuals
    • Individuals from underrepresented or marginalized communities
    • CC is an equal opportunity employer and an organization that values diversity. Recruiting staff to create an inclusive organization is a priority. Candidates are evaluated solely on their qualifications to perform the work required. ADA-compliant working conditions cannot be guaranteed.

    Why Join Us?

This is more than a campaign job—it’s a chance to develop organizing skills, grow professionally, and help shape the future of American democracy.

    • Leadership experience in a mission-driven, high-impact organization
    • A collaborative, inclusive, and supportive team culture
    • Passionate, devoted, volunteers who love working together
    • Opportunity to impact critical judicial elections at a moment when the justice system needs us most!
