TechTurnUp is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering K-12 students through hands-on learning experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Our summer program fosters creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration, providing students with opportunities to explore and engage in STEAM fields in a fun and supportive environment.
Position Overview:
We are seeking energetic and motivated Junior Summer Camp Tech Teachers for our 2025 Summer TechTurnUp Program. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for education, technology, and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of youth. You’ll work closely with students, helping to design and deliver engaging STEAM curriculum, integrating technology to inspire and empower young minds. The position will include assisting in the development and delivery of hands-on activities in various STEAM disciplines, with a particular focus on technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead hands-on workshops and activities focused on Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math, incorporating educational technology tools such as Scratch coding, BASIC coding, and app development.
Collaborate with other instructors to design and deliver student-centered learning experiences aligned with STEAM goals.
Provide support to students (elementary through high school) in projects, activities, and learning tasks.
Integrate critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and problem-solving throughout the curriculum.
Assist with classroom set-up, including tech tools such as Chromebooks, projectors, and media centers.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Participate in staff training and development sessions prior to the start of the program.
Provide guidance on projects and facilitate classroom activities to support student learning.
Assist with program setup, student supervision, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment.
Help assess student progress and provide feedback on learning outcomes.
Occasionally travel between program sites within the region.
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of employment.
Qualifications:
Experience working with youth (Elementary through High School).
Demonstrated experience or familiarity with STEAM education, particularly in Technology.
Ability to incorporate technology into the classroom, using tools such as Scratch coding, Design Thinking, and app development.
Passion for STEAM education, with a mindset of ongoing learning and innovation.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students.
Flexibility to adjust based on program requirements.
Available to work throughout the summer season (typically June through August, but varies by region).
Relevant certifications or degrees in STEAM or Education fields are a plus.
CPR Certification (preferred).
Required criminal background check, pre-employment disclosure, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.
Compensation:
Hourly Wage: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected Hours: 20 hours per week
Flexible schedule (Monday to Friday, weekends as needed)
