About the position:
The Northeast Regional Director will lead and grow our Northeast major gifts team, manage a robust portfolio of individual donors, and drive forward an ambitious regional strategy as we seek to double revenue and reach 100M people over the next 5 years. This role is ideal for a dynamic development professional who thrives on building networks, is a strong people leader, and has a proven track record of translating strategy into results.
Key Outcomes:
In the first 90 days, the Northeast Regional Director will:
Learn and live the Americares values.
Complete all required new hire onboarding trainings.
Demonstrate understanding of Americares programs, impact metrics, and strategic priorities.
Begin donor outreach with top prospects and loyal supporters while refining the pipeline and creating tailored cultivation plans.
Demonstrate full proficiency in CRM usage for tracking donor activity, forecasting revenue, and reporting progress.
Audit fundraising performance through a review of Northeast portfolios, donor data, regional giving trends. Begin identification of top prospects, lapsed donors, and regional philanthropic influencers.
Lead strategy with direct reports, clarify roles, and establish a collaborative, high-performance culture.
In the first 6 months, the Northeast Regional Director will:
Fully implement a regional fundraising plan with clear revenue targets, donor segments, and engagement strategies for the Northeast major gifts team.
Establish their own strong relationships with 20-30 key donors and prospects through in-person meetings, events, and personalized outreach.
Secure multiple major gifts ($25-$100K+) and renewed key funders from previous years.
Engage regional board members and Leadership Council members in fundraising efforts, including introductions and stewardship.
Continue to build team culture by providing coaching, setting clear goals, and fostering collaboration between the Northeast team and other regions.
In the first year, the Northeast Regional Director will:
Achieve or exceed annual revenue targets for both your own portfolio and the Northeast region.
Close multiple six-figure gifts and actively manage a portfolio of 75+ major donors and prospects with tailored cultivation and stewardship plans.
Build a pipeline of prospects for future multi-year commitments.
Contribute to national development strategy by sharing regional insights and best practices across the development department, including identifying long-term opportunities for growth, such as new markets, partnerships, or planned giving prospects.
Launch or scale a signature fundraising initiative (e.g. Airlift Benefit, Americares Free Clinic funding, etc.) with your team that raised visibility and funds.
Strengthen a high-performing regional team culture, including direct reports and Leadership Council members.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively model and contribute to Americares values, work culture and mission.

Develop and execute a comprehensive Northeast regional strategy focused on growing both revenue and strengthening Americares major gifts pipeline.
Cultivate and manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects in the northeast. Move relationships to the next level through personalized outreach, event engagement, and impact-driven storytelling.
Secure significant gifts ($25K–$1M+) and build a robust pipeline of future donors through research, qualification visits, and strategic engagement.
Collaborate cross-functionally across development, executive office, programs, and marketing & communications to ensure alignment and impact of your team’s initiatives.
Manage and mentor frontline fundraisers, fostering a high-performance, mission-driven culture.
Represent the Americares regionally, elevating visibility through events, donor meetings, and strategic partnerships.

Degrees and/or experience required for the role:
Demonstrated experience in developing and executing Northeast regional fundraising strategies for both yourself and a team in a global nonprofit and aligning them with national and organizational strategic goals.
Progressive experience with people management of people managers and development officer level staff
These competencies are required for the role:
US work authorization and 30% travel across the Northeast Region is required for this role.
Candidates must be currently living in and will continue to live in one of the following states/territories: CT, NYC/Westchester County or NJ.
These competencies would be great to have, but are not required:
Fluency in languages that are spoken in at least one of our core locations (India, Philippines, Tanzania, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Colombia, etc.), in addition to English.
