    Type: Regular, Non-Exempt, Full-time. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit represented by CWA Local 9410.

    Location: San Francisco. This is a hybrid role that is required to work in the office 2 days a week.

    Reports to: The Development Associate reports to the Chief Development Officer.

    Compensation and Benefits: $72,100 to $94,074. The compensation is determined based on relevant years of experience and in accordance with the negotiated salary scale in the union contract for this position.

    This position is eligible for language premiums for demonstrated proficiency in a language other than English that is regularly used in their job duties. The annual premium is $1,500 for oral proficiency and $1,500 for written proficiency in each language.

    The Opportunity

    The Development Associate plays an essential role in supporting ALC’s fundraising operations at this critical time. The ideal candidate will be a technological maven with demonstrated experience maintaining and growing an integrated Salesforce CRM to create a seamless workflow across multiple departments. This role will support colleagues on the Development team on database management, reporting, revenue tracking, donor stewardship, and donor research. The Development Associate will also be responsible for training staff across the organization to utilize Salesforce as relevant to their roles.

    Responsibilities

    Day-to-day activities include the following:

    Individual Donors and Events (0.50 FTE)

    • Respond quickly and effectively to all donor/ potential donor requests; assist in creating and implementing stewardship strategies, generating monthly renewal and acknowledgement letters, and maintaining a yearly stewardship calendar.
    • Conduct donor prospect research and qualification with iWave. Ensure that proactive coordination is in place for all assigned prospects including an organized system for contact reports, next steps, with direction and guidance from Development colleagues.
    • Conduct timely donation tracking and acknowledgment to donors/funders with ALC’s finance and administration teams.
    • Assist in implementing strategies for retaining and upgrading current donors with a particular focus on low- to mid-range donors through a well-defined moves management process, outreach and communication, and engagement.
    • Assist in coordinating fundraising and donor cultivation/engagement events, including the annual gala, as needed.
    • Coordinate special projects related to events, including the production of videos, silent auction, and donation collection.
    • Track online donations and assist in the mail campaigns, including list segmentation.
    • Assist in writing fundraising appeals and announcements.

    Institutional Funding Support (0.25 FTE)

    • Update deliverables and outreach calendar for institutional giving and support with outreach and cultivation activities.
    • Assist in submitting proposals and comprehensive reports to institutional funders.
    • Provide administrative support to the Development team in executing the management of grants.
    • Generate monthly income reports and coordinate with finance to reconcile accounting and development records of donations. Conduct conflict checks in Clio, ALC’s legal case management system, and provide research to support ALC’s gift acceptance and enhanced gift screening policies.

    Database Integrity and Management (0.25 FTE)

    • Overall donor database coordination and donor tracking to ensure donor records are continuously updated, and current and accurate on Salesforce (includes data entry, donor reports, donor acknowledgments, and mail merges).
    • Manage Salesforce CRM, including designing processes and structures for new development projects and programs.
    • Train organizational colleagues on use of Salesforce platform, as needed.
    • Manage integration of Salesforce with email marketing software, client tracking software, and other technologies utilized by ALC.
    • Report the weekly status of revenue to the Chief Development Officer
    • Provide administrative support for the Development team as needed.

    Other duties, as assigned.

    Desired Qualifications

    • BA/BS or equivalent experience
    • A minimum two (2) years of experience working with Salesforce in a nonprofit fundraising setting
    • Project management experience with a strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks
    • Administrative support experience, especially in event planning, database management, and/or fundraising
    • Data management and analytic skills
    • Ability to work both independently and with a team and handle multiple, competing deadlines
    • Strong presentation/communication skills for both internal and external audiences
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Strong organization and attention to detail
    • Flexibility to work some nights and weekends
    • Knowledge of issues that affect Asian American and Pacific Islander communities
    • Familiarity with technological platforms including Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Slack, Google Suite, Adobe Pro, GiveSmart, Asana, and others
