    DVP seeks a full-time Intake Coordinator with 1-2 years of experience to join a passionate team of attorneys and advocates helping survivors of intimate partner violence and their children gain safety and independence. Candidates must be bilingual English/Spanish. The Intake Coordinator plays a critical role in connecting survivors with DVP’s services through our DVP warmline, a live helpline prospective clients can call to connect to our services. The ideal candidate can thrive working both independently and collaboratively as a team, is self-motivated, and has a passion for providing high-quality and compassionate services for vulnerable populations.

    About DVP:

    The Domestic Violence Project (DVP)’s mission is to help survivors of intimate partner violence, and their children live free of violence and abuse, marshalling the combination of legal and advocacy services necessary to secure justice and a dignified quality of life. We consider intimate partner violence – regardless of gender, sexual identity, religion, immigration, or other status – to be a human rights violation. We serve an average of 1,600 survivors annually across all five boroughs of NYC through our comprehensive direct services (legal representation in family law and immigration matters, holistic case management, advocacy and empowerment groups), plus an additional 2,000+ reached through community outreach, education, and clinics. The Client Services team specializes in advocacy for survivors including in matters of housing, emergency shelter, criminal justice, civil legal, and public benefits; as well as holistic supports including empowerment groups, Know Your Rights workshops, and direct assistance.

    Job Responsibilities:

    The Intake Coordinator who reports to both the director and supervisor of client services and is responsible for the following:

    • Answer all warmline calls received live (Monday through Friday – 9am to 5pm), through voicemails and emails.
    • Assess prospective clients’ needs and conduct intakes through our internal database in a timely, professional, and trauma-informed manner.
    • Schedule intake appointments in our DVP clinics calendar.
    • Maintain accurate records of communications on the call log as well as our internal database.
    • Provide Spanish/English translation for documents, communications, and flyers as needed.
    • Provide Interpretation for on-site and off-site client appointments as needed.
    • Develop our resource database.
    • Provide logistical support during client events.
    • Maintain records, statistics and funding requirements as needed.
    • All other tasks as assigned by management in service of survivors of intimate partner violence.

    Requirements and Qualifications:

    • 1-2 years of experience working with survivors or other underserved populations.
    • Proficiency in Spanish and English – ability to speak, read and write in both languages.
    • Knowledge and understanding of intimate partner violence and trauma.
    • Deep experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and lifestyles.
    • Ability to work with clients in a sensitive and trauma-informed manner.
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, work independently and as a team member.
    • Exceptional interpersonal, speaking, and writing skills and the ability to apply these skills in diverse situations.
    • Interest and proclivity in working within a multi-disciplinary legal framework.
    • Able to work evenings if necessary.

    To Apply:

    Seeking an Intake Coordinator with 1-2 years of experience with a starting salary of $60,000.00-$61,000 commensurate with experience and an additional $1500 for proficiency in Spanish. This is a bargaining unit position represented for collective bargaining purposes by the Association of Legal Advocates and Attorneys, UAW, Local 2325.
