The Americas Division of Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is seeking an Associate to provide administrative assistance to the team. The Americas Division is a part of the Program Department, which consists of regional and thematic divisions conducting research, reporting, and various other work. The Americas Division works to advance human rights in Latin America and conducts a wide range of work, including investigation, report writing, advocacy, and media work.
This is a full-time position based in Latin American, preferably in Bogota or Mexico City. This position reports to the Director of the Americas Division. HRW anticipates that the successful candidate will begin this position in July 2025.
Responsibilities:
Candidate Profile: Candidates who are traditionally underrepresented in the human rights sectors (such as people who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, women, migrants, people with disabilities, or people who have other related lived experiences) are enthusiastically encouraged to apply if they feel they have the ability to succeed in this role, even if they do not have all the skills and qualifications listed below.
Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience in social sciences or a related field is required.
Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant work experience in human rights or international affairs is required.
Related Skills and Knowledge:
Other: Candidates must possess valid work authorization for the country in which they will be working from; HRW is unable to sponsor work visas for this role.
