    ABOUT US

    SUMMARY

    The primary purpose of this position is to support the Senior Planner in the planning and development of new public housing or public housing modernization through coordination of activities of consultant architects, engineers, tenant councils, other Cambridge Housing Authority (“CHA” or “Authority”) departments, and funding agencies. Incumbent may supervise a small clerical staff.

    All activities must support the CHA’s strategic goals and objectives and produce results that accomplish the goals of the Planning and Development department.

    Education and/or Experience

    Bachelor’s Degree in one of the social sciences and experience in housing or planning and public administration required. A Master’s Degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

    Technical Skills

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Outlook). Ability to learn other computer software programs may be required by assigned tasks.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Coordinates activities involving consulting architects and engineers, resident councils, other CHA departments and funding agencies.
    • Coordinates and attends occasional evening meetings with residents and neighborhood groups.
    • Assists in the preparation of RFPs to architects and engineers for development of bidding documents for physical improvement work; evaluates RFP responses
    • Evaluates the physical improvement needs of existing public housing
    • Assists in the preparation of funding proposals from various federal, state and local funding sources
    • Prepares documentation for CHA, tenant councils and funding agencies for the awarding of contracts to architectural and engineering firms

    • Plans physical improvement of current housing units with tenant councils (some after hours work required)
    • Performs other related duties as assigned
