Donor Engagement Officer-Eastern NC

We are currently seeking a qualified candidate for a donor engagement officer role for the eastern region. This donor engagement officer must live in the region.

Summary:

The Donor Engagement Officer (DEO) for the eastern region provides philanthropic support and customer service to the Foundation’s fundholders in eastern North Carolina including general fund education, grantmaking research and expertise, and collaboration with development staff on fund growth opportunities and legacy planning. This role embraces and models values of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all NCCF operations as we advance our mission.

Core responsibilities include:

• Cultivates relationships with fundholders in eastern North Carolina and ensures that fundholders receive superior customer service from the Foundation
• Respond to fundholder needs,requests, and inquiries; provide education and problem-solving support;ensure funds remain active and operate according to fundholders’ philanthropic intentions, legal and regulatory requirements, and NCCF policies; and engage NCCF staff with relevant expertise as needed
• Manage relationships with donor advised fundholders in eastern North Carolina through work such as defining grantmaking goals, educating on community needs, researching nonprofit organizations, facilitating impactful grants, and ensuring funds remain active
• Manage relationships with agency fundholders in eastern North Carolina through work such as engaging with the organization’s leadership and board to educate and answer questions about endowments, investment performance and, in collaboration with development officer, strategies for endowment growth
• Manage relationships with designated and scholarship funds in eastern North Carolina through work such as answering questions about endowments, investment performance and grantmaking/awards, and engaging NCCF staff with relevant expertise as needed
• Work collaboratively with regional development officer to engage and orient new fundholders to the Foundation

Work collaboratively with the director of donor engagement and development officer for the eastern region to identify prospective fundholders to engage in repeat gifts, deeper engagement in the work of the Foundation, legacy planning, and/or gifts to NCCF Operating Endowment, create, plan and implement fundholder communication, education, engagement activities and special initiatives

• Proficient in a variety of word processing, database, presentation tools, and social media platforms, including Microsoft tools, and demonstrates an ongoing commitment to training in soft skills and technical skills
• Demonstrates support for innovation and development to improve effectiveness and efficiency
• Deep interest in and commitment to the work of the North Carolina Community Foundation, with a demonstrated commitment to the eastern North Carolina area, its people, and their concerns
• Flexible and responsive to development opportunities as they arise
• Ability to make decisions about how to manage multiple tasks and organize own workload
• Ability to implement changes provided by management

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience in philanthropic/nonprofit sector, development, donor engagement, or community relations, including 5 or more years’ work experience

• The following are included in the eastern NC region: Beaufort, Bertie, Brunswick, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Columbus, Craven, Currituck, Dare, Duplin, Gates, Greene, Hertford, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, New Hanover, Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Pender, Perquimans, Pitt, Robeson, and Sampson.

The person in this position is expected to travel extensively within the above counties. Some overnight travel within the region and to NCCF’s Raleigh office is expected.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package and the opportunity to work with a committed, engaged team. The hiring range for this position is $72,000 to $74,000, depending upon qualifications and experience. NCCF is an equal opportunity employer.
