    Job Title: Funder Relations Manager

    Employment Status: Full-time exempt (An average of 40 hours per week, but as an exempt employee this position will be expected to work as many hours as it takes to fulfill their job responsibilities)

    Compensation Range: $80,000 - $90,000, determined by organizational equity, experience, and qualifications.

    Estimated start date: Mid January

    Location: This is a remote position. We are a California-based organization, and this individual will be expected to work predominantly on a Pacific time zone schedule.

We engage movement groups in cultural strategy and organize artists around issues that inspire them.     Position Overview:

    The Funder Relations Manager will be responsible for supporting the establishment of Cultural Power’s individual giving program, including: everyday giving, mid-tier giving, and recurring giving pathways. This role will be a Departmental Contributor at Cultural Power. Roles categorized as Departmental Contributors are individuals who hold certain positions within a particular department, leveraging their seniority and expertise to actively drive the department objectives, initiatives, and overarching achievements.

    The Funder Relations Manager plays a key role helping the organization build strong fundraising systems that work cross-departmentally by:

    • Managing a portfolio of individual givers by owning prospect research, outreach, stewardship for everyday and recurring givers
    • Providing administrative support for individual giving through data entry, notetaking, gift acknowledgement, and regular reconciliation.

    Reporting into the Development Director, the Manager will regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in performing the following key areas of expertise:

    Key Responsibilities:

    The Funder Relations Manager will regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in performing the following key areas:

    • Managing many detailed processes simultaneously.
    • Building and maintaining robust development operations systems.
    • Gathering and producing assets that help donors experience and understand our work.
    • Navigating Salesforce CRM with efficiency.
    • Establishing and maintaining individual donor stewardship and prospecting.
    • Leading project management cross-departmentally.
    • Performing work which is primarily intellectual with many managerial and thought leadership duties.
    • Relationship building and connection between internal staff and externally with existing and prospective donors.

    The Work & Responsibilities

    Supporting the Establishment of an Individual Giving Program

    • Serve as a qualification officer for new leads at the mid- and everyday-giving levels prospects ($10,000 and below) from research, prospect tracking tools, and donor database.
    • Manage a portfolio of everyday and recurring givers.
    • Support donor engagement through strategic “discovery” activities including, but not limited, to targeted events for prospective donors. Activities for the portfolio will allow for prospect qualification and follow-up solicitation.
    • Work with the Director of Development to develop best practices to initiate relationships and move them through the donor continuum to a gift conversation.
    • Professionally and clearly articulate Cultural Power’s vision and funding priorities in written communication to prospects and donors.
    • Work in partnership with the Development team and senior staff to build relationships to close mid-level gifts.
    • Work with Programs to capture results and translate them into engaging, donor-facing assets.
    • Collaborate with the Communications Department to create briefing materials associated with activities for potential donors.

    Administrative Support

    • Manage regular administrative and compliance activities for individual givers, including: gift acknowledgement and managing donor data in Cultural Power’s CRM.
    • Track and report fundraising metrics to supervisor.
    • Work with the Finance Department to ensure monthly, quarterly, and yearly reconciliation of donation records.
    • Manage prospect tracking systems.
    • Contribute to the development of strong processes that organize the work of the Development Department and our interface with other departments.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications for the position include:

    • Experience in the establishment or early-stage development of individual giving programs.
    • At least 3 years of experience in the areas of finance, administration, and leadership support.
    • At least 3 years demonstrating knowledge of non-profit gift acceptance compliance
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills; time management and prioritization skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet time sensitive deadlines.
    • Ability to translate programmatic impact to external audiences.
    • Familiarity with digital collaboration tools such as Slack and Asana.

    Required

    The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualifications:

    • High level of cultural fluency, experience working with BIPOC communities and/or organizations, and a commitment to equity.
    • A solutions-oriented approach to the work that creates cohesion in teams.
    • Prospect Research.
    • Supporting C-Suite and Director-level fundraising (scheduling, prep and follow up, tracking)

    Preferred

    We prefer candidates that have experience in:

    • Working asynchronously in a remote setting.
    • Online fundraising campaigns.
    • Working with artists and culture bearers / working with arts and culture organizations.
    • Engaging local, regional, and national donors.
    • Familiarity with Institutional Funding.

    Compensation & Benefits

    This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting salary range of $80,000 - $90,000, determined by organizational equity, experience, and qualifications. We offer a generous benefits package including full medical, dental, vision (100% company paid for employee & 70% contribution towards dependent premiums), life, long-term disability, flex spending accounts, $50 monthly stipend to support cell phone/wifi expenses, and a 401k plan with 3% employer contribution (regardless of employee contribution); generous vacation, office closures, sick leave, bereavement leave, Covid leave, sabbatical policy, and paid holidays. We also offer ample flexibility as a permanently remote workplace.
