    Who We Are

Women Leading Ed (WLE) is the nation’s leading nonprofit network of bipartisan women leaders transforming public education. From state commissioners to district superintendents to next-in-line executives, our members are at the helm of systems that shape the lives of millions of students, and they’re leading for the long-run.

WLE’s network spans all 50 states, uniting over 500 bipartisan district and state superintendents, charter school leaders, and c-suite executives. Together, they lead with vision and courage, serving more than 20 million students - almost 1 in 2 public school students nationwide.

Our mission is to cultivate a community of women education leaders who are equipped, connected, and supported to rise into and sustain in top roles, and to drive meaningful, lasting change for students, schools, and systems. We do this through intentional development pathways, strategic sponsorship, and high-impact partnerships that expand what’s possible for women, and for the future of education. We provide the development, research, and relationships to help women lead with impact and deliver results for schools, communities, and the future of education.

We believe the next generation of impactful leadership is already here. It’s time to identify, elevate, and sustain these leaders to bring bold, transformative change to our nation.

Women Leading Ed. For a change.

    Opportunity

Women Leading Ed is hiring a Program Director to support all aspects of our programming - from idea to execution - for its member network. This includes virtual and in-person all-network programming, ongoing content-focused cohorts, and emerging programming currently in development.

This is a unique opportunity for an education leader who is passionate about leadership development and thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of our programming: implementing programming ideas, coordinating facilitators and speakers, managing logistics, and continuously improving the member experience.

We’re looking for someone who is highly organized, results-driven, and excited to build meaningful experiences that support women leading at the highest levels of education.

This role reports to the WLE Executive Director and is part of a collaborative, mission-aligned team committed to supporting women leaders across the country.

    Core Program Areas

    All-Network Sessions

Quarterly virtual gatherings for the full Women Leading Ed community that feature expert speakers, leadership learning, and peer connection, offering actionable strategies and inspiration to support members in their leadership journeys.

    Emerging State Executives Network

A year-long, cohort-based program for women serving or transitioning into senior leadership roles within state education agencies, combining leadership development, executive coaching, and peer connection to support their growth, confidence, and impact in top-level positions.

    Sustained Education Executives Network

A cohort experience designed to support resiliency and sustained effectiveness for seasoned women education leaders, offering space to grow, deepen, and reconnect with purpose and strengthen professional community.

    Future Cohorts and Custom Offerings

Women Leading Ed will continue to expand in reach and impact, with new programmatic offerings likely to emerge. Future offerings will be designed to respond to the evolving needs of women leaders across the education landscape and may include both pilot and long-term programs.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Program Implementation & Design: Support the development of program structure, learning arcs, and content across all programming areas, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and participant needs.
    • Project Management: Lead end-to-end coordination of programs including planning, timelines, logistics, and communications.
    • Content Development: Create and curate high-quality session materials, agendas, and resources that support leadership growth and align with the goals of each program.
    • Partner, Facilitator, & Attendee Coordination: Coordinate with external coaches, speakers, and subject matter experts, while also managing attendee communications (e.g., registration, reminders, and ongoing program updates) to ensure a seamless and engaging experience for all participants.
    • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with cohort members, senior leaders, and program alumni to ensure a high-touch and high-impact participant experience.
    • Evaluation & Impact: Collect and analyze feedback to assess program effectiveness and inform ongoing improvement.

    About You

    The ideal candidate will bring:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program design, facilitation, or leadership development, preferably within education or nonprofit settings.
    • A proven ability to design and manage complex programs from start to finish.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and comfort managing logistics for multiple programs simultaneously.
    • A warm, confident facilitation and communication style, with the ability to build trust across various stakeholder groups.
    • Comfort in a fast-paced, remote-first environment, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
    • Proficiency in project management and collaboration tools, including Asana, Google Workspace, and Zoom.
    • Proactive and solutions-oriented, with the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse work styles and personalities.
