    Fraser Valley Community Media (FVCM) dba. KFFR seeks an energetic, visionary, relationship-driven leader to serve as its next Executive Director. The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of Fraser Valley Community Media and is responsible for advancing the organization's mission through fundraising, strategic leadership, community partnerships, and organizational development. The Executive Director's primary focus is ensuring the long-term financial sustainability and strategic growth of the organization.

    The successful candidate will inherit an organization with:

    • Two FCC licensed radio stations

    The next Executive Director will build upon this strong foundation and help lead Fraser Valley Community Media beyond $500,000 in annual revenue while preserving its mission of serving as the community hub for all communities in Grand County, Colorado through independent local media.

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic leadership for Fraser Valley Community Media.
    • Implement the strategic vision established by the Board of Directors.
    • Supervise professional staff while fostering a collaborative organizational culture.
    • Ensure compliance with nonprofit, FCC, and grant requirements.
    • Develop annual budgets and long-range financial plans with the Finance Committee.
    • Plan, implement, and provide oversight to ensure effective administrative support, budget management, grants management, contract management, records management, and personnel management, evaluation and development.
    • Lead the station in planning, implementing, and providing oversight to ensure effective fundraising efforts, including underwriting solicitation, fund drives, member and donor programs, grants, and special events.
    • Serve as the business manager of the organization while maintaining financial records and making decisions that keep the station running.
    • Ensure compliance reporting is completed for all relevant jurisdictions for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
    • Articulate the station’s mission, policies and strategic direction, while developing and fostering positive relationships with community leaders and organizations, listeners, advisory boards, members, donors, underwriters, broadcasters, volunteers, staff, and any other constituencies of the station.
    • Provide regular financial reports to the Board of Directors so that the Board has the information necessary for making informed policy decisions that affect the station.
    • Advise the board on policy decisions, and implement the board's approved policies and strategic plan.
    • Work with other established community radio stations to learn industry standards.
    • Provide principal coordination for meetings of the Board of Directors, including preparation of requested materials and scheduling of virtual or in-person meeting spaces.
    • Serve as the organization's chief development officer by: cultivating major. donors, expanding annual membership campaigns, identifying and securing grant opportunities, developing capital campaigns, building relationships with foundations, expanding planned giving opportunities, managing donor stewardship and recognition programs.
    • Support underwriting growth in partnership with the Underwriting & Marketing Director.

    Skills Required:

    • The ideal candidate will possess:
    • Demonstrated nonprofit leadership experience.
    • Proven fundraising success.
    • Grant writing experience.
    • Experience cultivating major donors.
    • Budget management experience.
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience supervising staff.
    • Strong relationship-building abilities.
    • Strategic planning experience.
    • Understanding of public radio programming best practices and principles.
    • Excellent communication skills including speaking, listening, writing and presentation.
    • Experience in a management or supervisory position in a non-profit organization (preferably public radio or other community-based media).

    Community radio experience is preferred but not required. Applicants with backgrounds in nonprofit leadership, higher education, museums, performing arts, journalism, foundations, or community development are strongly encouraged to apply.

    Anticipated/Estimated Work Load:

    • Leading the vision and mission of the organization = 30%
    • Fundraising Development, Grants and Major Gifts = 40%
    • Community Partnerships = 10%
    • Board Relations and Strategic Planning = 15%
    • Administration and Bookkeeping = 5%

    Measures of Success:

    The Board anticipates annual performance evaluations tied to organizational goals, fundraising performance, strategic initiatives, and staff leadership. Within the first three years, the Executive Director should work collaboratively with staff and the Board to achieve goals such as:

    • Grow annual organizational revenue beyond $500,000.
    • Expand membership support.
    • Increase grant funding.
    • Strengthen municipal partnerships.
    • Grow major donor giving.
    • Expand community programming.
    • Support development of additional broadcast infrastructure.
    • Maintain strong financial reserves.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    $75,000 - $90,000 annually - Depending on Experience
