    The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, a 501 (c) 3 community-based theatre on the East End of Long Island, is seeking a dynamic and energetic Manager for its highly acclaimed Nancy and Frederick DeMatteis Arts Academy.

    Position Summary: As Arts Education Associate Manager, you will be the first point of contact for our students and families, handling inquiries, managing rosters and registrations (knowledge of Tessitura a plus, but we will train you!). You will manage and work collaboratively with a talented team of roughly ten to fifteen Teaching Artists. You will assist in the cultivation and maintenance of class and camp sessions, using creativity to nurture incredible experiences for our students ages 5 to 99. You may have opportunity to teach in your area of expertise, joining our impressive ranks of Teaching Artists as appropriate and approved by Arts Academy Director. No two days will be alike and in addition to assigned administrative tasks, you will be hands-on in securing class and event success. You will welcome and dismiss students, youth and adults, to after-school and morning/evening classes, set and reset session spaces before and after class, and lockdown theatre facilities which all may include required later night hours, as well as help with weekend events as scheduled. You will act as an ambassador for the Academy, assisting with marketing and taking full advantage of outreach opportunities. You will work closely not only with our dedicated Arts Academy Director, but also a warm, welcoming, and fun team of seven who create performing arts magic all year round.

    Supervision Exercised and Received: Position works under the direction of the Director of Arts Education and supervises various seasonal staff and guest artists.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • The Arts Academy Associate Manager is responsible for fulfilling the vision of the Director of Arts Education through assistance in conceiving, planning, structuring, implementing, and guiding a successful, multifaceted, and robust program of arts education classes, seminars, and special events, divided across the three distinct portions of the WHBPAC year (summer, fall, and spring) with different emphases reflective of the varying participating age groups (young children, young teenagers, older teenagers, and adults) with a logical curricula of follow-on programs to keep these students engaged and continued beyond a single arts-education experience.
    • To that end, the Arts Education Associate Manager participates directly in arts education programs as an adjunct class instructor as needed or desirable within the context of a qualitatively and financially successful program, as well as assistant producer for general purposes as well as in the generation of collateral such as marketing, publicity, outreach campaigns, program playbills and orientation packets.
    • The Arts Academy Associate Manager executes the recruiting effort for appropriate seasonal and guest artist staff for all arts education activities, making final employment recommendations to the Director of Arts Education and circulating necessary employment paperwork to ensure hiring compliance in a timely fashion.
    • The Arts Academy Associate Manager assists the Director of Arts Education as requested in the production of schooltime performances under the “School Days Performance Series” during the fall and spring seasons. The Arts Academy Associate Manager works with educational institutions to provide teachers with appropriate study guides, feedback surveys, and other formal and informal communication tools.
    • The Arts Academy Associate Manager assists as requested by the Director of Arts Education in the researching and securing of sources of foundation, corporate, and individual funding and sponsorships for arts education activities and programs, including fundraisers and fundraising initiatives.
    • Provides clerical support for the arts education program, as directed by the Director of Arts Education.
    • WHBPAC works as a small and tightly-knit staff, and all employees are expected to take on short-term (and occasionally longer duration) assignments that fulfill necessary duties typically fulfilled by other staff members.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre, Education, or related field;

    Three years of arts education experience with a similar independent institution, or as part of a public or private school, college, or university;

    Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Email. Experience with Tessitura a plus;

    or any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills as determined by WHBPAC management may be substituted for the requirements above.

    Position Type and Work Hours: Regular full time, 40-hour work week, all days of the week as required, hours to vary with workload, will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
