Her PLAN works at the local level with communities to strengthen and expand the pro-life safety net (based on the Her PLAN seven categories of care). Through this strategic work, communities become “Her Community” distinguished by a strong growing network of support that helps women plan for their future without resorting to abortion.
Directors of Community Engagement lead teams of up to six state coordinators, each responsible for mobilizing communities in their state to increase awareness of existing supports for pregnant and parenting mothers, strengthen connections between providers, identify unmet needs, and prompt new and expanded local care. Motivating churches and community organizations to find their calling to serve pregnant and parenting moms is a crucial component Her Community outreach.
Together with the community, coordinators develop a roadmap that outlines actionable steps to reinforce the pro-life safety net in each Her Community. This work is supported by the Her PLAN Directory of vetted life-affirming service providers and Her PLAN’s Pathways guide which offers models to address gaps in the community’s pro-life safety net. Directors of Community Engagement participate in local events alongside state coordinators and manage the planning and execution of each Her Community.
In addition to community-level efforts, Directors of Community Engagement’s teams execute state-wide outreach to expand the reach of the Her PLAN Directory and Pathways program, while cultivating in development of future Her Communities.
