    Location: Los Angeles, CA (Remote with on-site collaboration as needed)

    Why This Role Matters: L.A. Works is launching Service Leadership Staffing, a first-of-its-kind social enterprise that provides professional staffing solutions to nonprofits while dramatically increasing volunteer impact across Los Angeles. We are seeking a skilled Contractor Coordination & Placement Specialist to help build our contractor talent pool, coordinate placements, and track volunteer impact. The right candidate will work closely with the Director of Service Leadership Staffing to ensure contractors are prepared to deliver high-quality service. This role is based in Los Angeles, requires the ability to work independently in a remote setting, and offers an exciting opportunity to build a program from scratch.

    Essential job functions: The following list is not comprehensive; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the position's primary responsibilities. Incumbents may not be required to perform all roles listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Recruit contractors through local communities, programs, partner organizations, and job boards to drive participation in core trainings;
    • Conduct ongoing screening, interviews, and skills assessments for rapid placements;
    • Support instructional design and facilitate presentations;
    • Coordinate background checks (as required by placement partners) and required compliance documentation;
    • Collaborate with the Director of Service Leadership Staffing to build and utilize technology and systems infrastructure, including:
    • CRM customization for contractor and client tracking
    • Scheduling/placement management system
    • Invoicing and payment tracking system
    • Impact dashboard for volunteer hours tracking
    • Maintain a contractor database with skills, availability, and performance history;
    • Match contractors to opportunities based on qualifications;
    • Coordinate placement logistics using partner onboarding toolkit;
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors;
    • Monitor contractor performance during placements;
    • Collect volunteer impact data from all placements and conduct post-placement debriefs with hour verification from partners for timely payments;
    • Build contractor community through communications and events;
    • Coordinate invoicing with the Finance Manager;
    • Develop a Quality Assurance plan with support from the Director of People and Culture, including:
    • Contractor performance evaluation rubrics
    • Client satisfaction surveys
    • Volunteer impact measurement tools
    • Program evaluation framework
    • Connect contractors to permanent nonprofit roles as opportunities arise;
    • Support L.A. Works large-scale signature events and other all-organization-wide needs; and
    • With this being a new department, at the sole discretion of the department supervisor, a variety tasks and responsibilities may be assigned and/or change over time to best serve the needs of the department.

    Additional requirements:

    • Valid driver’s license
    • 5+ years of relevant experience
    • Access to personal car for occasional travel throughout Los Angeles County
    • Some evening and weekend commitments
    • Experience with (or can quickly adapt) Zoom, Google Drive, Microsoft Teams, and Salesforce.
    • Participate in an L.A. Works Taskforce (an organization-wide, collaborative team).
    • In-person support at L.A. Works’ large-scale signature events and other organization-wide commitments.
    • Initiate NSWOP and check criminal history before hiring.
    • Any and all other duties assigned by the supervisor.

    Classification and salary: The Contractor Coordination & Placement Specialist role is a full-time non-exempt employee of L.A. Works, employed at will, and reports directly to the Director of Service Leadership Staffing. This is a grant-funded position through December 2027 with the opportunity for extension by funder or through sustained program success. As such, the Contractor Coordination & Placement Specialist role is subject to the policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook. The targeted hiring salary is $58,000 – $60,000.
