    Descripción

General Description: Population Connection, a national nonprofit organization working to educate the public about population and related environmental, economic and social issues, seeks candidates for a 6-month, paid fellowship for its Population Education (PopEd) Program, starting in July 2026.

This position will help coordinate our annual, international student video contest for grades 6-12. Now in its 16th year, the World of 8 Billion contest asks students to create a short video explaining how population growth impacts one of three global challenges and offering an idea for a sustainable solution. More information about the contest can be found at https://www.worldof8billion.org.

    Fellowship responsibilities include:

    • Sending outreach marketing (video submissions are due early March).
    • Creating, revising, and updating content for the contest website, including blogs.
    • Communicating with teachers and students about the contest and submission process.
    • Coordinating the staff judging process and recruiting and managing guest judges.
    • Supporting the management of the World of 8 Billion mini grant opportunity for teachers.
    • Assisting with the planning and facilitation of webinars to support educators with the contest.
    • Prepping for the contest opening by writing topic overviews, aligning topics to curriculum standards, preparing marketing materials, and other updates as needed.
    • Creating social media content about the contest and posting on PopEd’s channels (Facebook, BlueSky, and LinkedIn), with support from PopEd staff.

The Fellow will work as part of a dynamic team and support other program activities as needed, including writing blogs for the program website. Detailed information about the Population Education Program can be found at www.populationeducation.org.

Requirements: Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in environmental and human population issues and K-12 education, and strong writing skills. B.A. or B.S. required.

Compensation: $28/hour ($2,100/pay period, before taxes) plus competitive benefits package.

Location: The Population Education Program team is based in Washington, DC and currently works on a hybrid schedule (2 days in the office; 3 at home).

Application Instructions: Send resume and cover letter to: jobs@popconnect.org.

    Note: Cover letters are required.

Population Connection is an Equal Opportunity Employer. A full statement on the organization’s commitment to EOE and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and be found here.
