    ABOUT ASAP

The Armed Services Arts Partnership, or ASAP, is a fast-growing, entrepreneurial organization creating communities where veterans and their families thrive through the arts. As the nation’s largest military-arts organization, we’re addressing social isolation and mental health challenges within the military-connected community. Our programs leverage the arts as a powerful set of tools to move through questions of identity, community, tragedy, purpose, loss, and war. Through the arts, ASAP graduates gain new tools for self-understanding and self-expression, then share their new talents with supportive audiences, ultimately empowering participants to feel seen, heard, and known.

10,000 military-connected individuals representing all 50 states have graduated from our free classes since 2015. Peer-reviewed research demonstrates ASAP participants experience significant, lasting improvements in social connectivity, resilience, self-esteem, and integration of self. Our alumni have performed for 250,000 audience members at venues like The Kennedy Center, Carolines on Broadway, Warner Theater, and The White House. ASAP has been featured by CNN, ABC, NBC, PBS, NPR, The Washington Post, POLITICO, and Forbes.

    POSITION SUMMARY

ASAP is seeking candidates who have an interest in managing arts programming for the military community in Los Angeles and Coachella Valley.

As Program Manager, you'll be at the center of our impact. Working closely with our Program Director, you'll oversee the details for ASAP classes, performances, and community events from top to bottom — setting the systems and standards that keep every program across the LA and Coachella Valley chapters organized, welcoming, and well-supported. You'll coordinate with venues and instructors, write program descriptions, and review participant applications.

You will be the “face-of-ASAP” for the military community at-large and will develop partnerships with local arts partners and veteran / military organizations. In addition, the Program Manager will staff programs in the area, including graduation shows, open mics, and classes.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Program Management: Oversee all logistics for ASAP’s classes, workshops, and performances in the Los Angeles Chapter and Coachella Valley Chapter. Coordinate with instructors, volunteers, arts partners, and venues to ensure programs run smoothly.
    • Program Communications & Admissions: Serve as the “face of ASAP” for applicants, participants, alumni, and partners. Manage applications, waitlists, and reminders. Stay connected via email, phone, and in-person to build strong relationships and support participants when needed.
    • Outreach & Promotion: Increase applications and visibility by engaging with the military community. Build connections with VSOs/MSOs, visit military installations and businesses, attend community resource fairs, and represent ASAP at local events. Collaborate with ASAP’s Communications team to develop flyers, emails, social media, and website content.
    • Partnerships & Training: Develop and sustain relationships with instructors, volunteers, venues, and partner organizations. As needed, train instructors and arts partners on taking attendance, emergency protocols, and military cultural competency to ensure programs meet veteran and military family needs.
    • Program Staffing: Attend classes and workshops to welcome participants, deliver introductions, and provide support during difficult moments. Manage graduation and community shows, including ticketing, coordination with hosts, and show introductions.
    • Development & Finance: Support fundraising efforts by attending alumni board meetings, assisting with reports for funders, and strategizing new programs. Manage program-related payments (venues, stipends, materials) and draft contracts, MOUs, and rental agreements with new partners.
    • Participant Care & Escalation: Help create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for participants. Follow ASAP protocols for difficult moments, participant concerns, safety issues, access needs, or behavioral concerns, and escalate to the Program Director or appropriate team member when needed.
    • Regional Expansion Support: Support continued growth by helping with outreach, venue scouting, and relationship-building in Southern California.
    • Internal Collaboration: Communicate effectively with ASAP team members to complete projects, solve problems, and advance ASAP’s mission. Provide guidance and day-to-day support to the Coachella Valley Program Coordinator, including performance check-ins.
