    The Opportunity

Westchester Youth Alliance (WYA) is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Executive Director to lead the organization through an exciting period of growth and opportunity.

This is not a caretaker role. It is a builder's role.

WYA is a growing youth development organization that brings high school students together across differences to build relationships, develop leadership skills, engage in their communities, and create positive change. Through service, the arts, civic engagement, and leadership opportunities, WYA gives teens the tools and confidence to build bridges across differences and make a positive impact in their communities.

Founded in 2012, WYA now serves more than 500 teens annually through a growing portfolio of programs and partnerships throughout Westchester County. With an engaged Board, committed staff and volunteers, dedicated funders, and strong demand for its programs, WYA is poised for its next stage of growth.

The next Executive Director will expand WYA’s reach and impact, grow and diversify its funding base, and build its visibility as a leader in youth connection, leadership, civic engagement, and community-building in Westchester County, NY.

This is a highly hands-on leadership position suited to an entrepreneurial, collaborative leader who is equally comfortable developing strategy, cultivating relationships, fundraising, managing operations, and rolling up their sleeves to get things done.

    Key Responsibilities

    Organizational Leadership & Strategy

    • Provide vision, leadership, and day-to-day direction in partnership with the Board and staff.
    • Translate WYA's mission and strategic priorities into clear goals and actionable plans.
    • Strengthen organizational systems, processes, and accountability to support sustainable growth.
    • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, entrepreneurial organizational culture.

    Fundraising & Development

    • Lead WYA's fundraising and development strategy in partnership with the Development Consultant, staff, and Board.
    • Grow and diversify revenue through individual donors, foundations, corporations, sponsorships, government funding, fundraising events, and earned revenue.
    • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, funders, community leaders, and prospective supporters.
    • Engage Board members as ambassadors and fundraisers.
    • Communicate WYA's mission, programs, and impact compellingly to funders and community stakeholders.

    Program Growth & Impact

    • Work closely with the Program Director and Program Committee to ensure program quality, alignment with mission, and effective use of resources.
    • Support continued development and expansion of WYA's programs and curriculum in response to teen interests, community needs, and ever-changing societal dynamics.
    • Ensure youth voice and leadership remain central to program design and organizational decision-making.
    • Strengthen partnerships that expand opportunities for teens and increase WYA's impact.
    • Support evaluation and communication of program outcomes and impact.

    External Relations & Community Engagement

    • Serve as WYA's primary ambassador and public representative.
    • Build relationships with schools, youth-serving organizations, faith communities, businesses, government officials, alumni, nonprofit organizations, and other community leaders.
    • Increase WYA's visibility and reach throughout Westchester County.
    • Represent WYA at community meetings, events, conferences, and other appropriate forums.

    Board, Financial & Operational Management

    • Serve as a trusted partner to the Board, providing clear reporting and helping establish annual priorities and strategies.
    • Support Board recruitment, engagement, and development.
    • Work with the Board, bookkeeper, accountant, and consultants to manage the organization's budget and financial operations.
    • Oversee administrative operations, compliance, contracts, and organizational requirements.
    • Manage staff, consultants, and organizational resources in a way that is sustainable for a growing nonprofit.

    What We're Looking For

We are seeking an experienced nonprofit leader who combines strategic vision with a willingness to roll up their sleeves. The ideal candidate will bring:

    • Demonstrated nonprofit leadership or senior management experience, ideally in a growing or evolving organization.
    • Experience with fundraising and development, including foundation relations, individual giving, donor cultivation, or other revenue development.
    • Experience working with youth, education, community development, civic engagement, arts, or other mission-driven organizations.
    • Experience managing staff, consultants, budgets, and external partners.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a nonprofit Board of Directors.
    • Strong relationship-building skills and familiarity with Westchester County and its communities, networks, and institutions strongly preferred.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Comfort with digital communication platforms, CRM databases, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, and other organizational tools.
    • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.

    • Salary: $75,000–$78,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
    • Schedule: 30 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling.
    • Location: Westchester County, NY, with a hybrid work arrangement and regular in-person presence in the community and at WYA programs and events.
